Changing it up a Bit...

Why hello stranger.... As you can see I have been MIA for a few weeks.  This new schedule has left me with very little free time at all, so of course as much as I love blogging I have to admit I love my fam a bit more as well as sleep (sorry gotta be truthful) so in stead of apologizing every few weeks I've decided that I am going to take a break.

I really want to focus on being healthy and losing the rest of this weight (and the extra 10 I've put on this year).  I also want to spend some good family time with the kiddo and hubs, and I resigned with group training so I have no extra time yikes.

I am not just vanishing though... I will be posting things on Facebook and Instagram, they are much easier and quicker and it requires much less time sometimes it's all about instant gratification. But don't worry I will not abandon it completely,  I'll be Poppin' by and posting updates, recipes and randomness :) just not as frequently or on any set schedule.

So please follow me on Instagram and Facebook and keep up with me and keep me honest!

Love ya, Alma

WiW...I May Have Found the Secret.

Happy WiW everyone.  I have been working.  Not necessarily  working out  but working at figuring out why my weight loss has seemed to have stalled this last year.  I know some of it has been because I've bounced around and tried different things (you can read about that here). Then one day I started going through old blog posts and thinking about what I was doing not just on the blog but in my life

then it came to me...
I was doing a lot of crafting.  I love to craft, I love trying new crafts, I even turned TaTa's old room into my crafting/office when she moved out.

I sew, do paper crafting, some jewelry making, and bows.  I used to LOVE to make hair bows.
I would sell them at my school and even had an etsy shop for a bit.  Then for some reason I just fell out of it.
When I was reflecting I really thought about it and tried to figure out why I was doing better with my weight during that time. DUH... I was busy, busy making or sewing.  Planning or taking pictures.  My hands were always busy.
EUREKA!!
My hands and mind were busy.  So there was no mindless snacking.  I would stop long enough to make and eat meals, and I wouldn't go back for seconds because I needed to get back and finish what I was working on. I wasn't mindlessly eating.   HOLY CRAP! I think I may have found the answer.
Also I love to watch TV and lately I've been sitting with DQ or at the kitchen table with my iPad and watch but then I would get bored and start looking for things to snack on. So I just brought my iPad in to my craft room/office and watched it while I was working on things.

and this is the result of finding the secret to hopefully my success  …
down 3.4 pounds

Now, any guesses to what I'm doing next? lol

WiW…All or Nothing

Hi Guys, thanks for letting me vent yesterday.  I have just been in a funk lately. trying my best to stick to something...anything really.  I think summer just got the best of me, to tell the truth this year has got the best of me.   I don't know if it's because of the surgery or all these fricken  aches and pains due to surgery. Not that I'm trying to make excuses.  Yes some of those aches and pains make it a little harder to go all out at the gym or on runs but I am still fully capable of going for a walk, and  make healthy food choices.  There is no reason for me to be sitting there at night mindlessly snacking,  (and yes Desiree you hit the nail on the head it's just boredom).
After writing that I have been trying to be more mindful of what I'm eating and doing.  Even though I still feel in a bit of a funk I am working on getting back into good habits. I'm really working on NOT snacking. the plan is to come home make and eat dinner then 20minutes later I can have dessert.  But only ONE!  It can be whatever I want but one sensible portion. As for working out my goal is to get in  at least 30 minutes 5 times a week. Again it can be what ever I want a walk, run, swim, or weights but at least 1/2 hour if it's more great, but I won't force myself to always go big because then I just won't do it if I'm not feeling it.
So far  Monday I made myself go to the gym and told myself I could just walk for 1/2  hour then I could go home.  But when I got there I ended up doing the elliptical, then I figured ok I'll just add 15 minutes of stairs.  When I was done I went to get DQ from kids club but she begged to stay a little longer (they were doing relay races) so I walked on the treadmill for another 15min so all in all I got a whole hour in.
Tuesday I had a ton to do at home (aka fight DQ on homework... it's already started)
so I told myself if I run on my lunch (1/2 hour) then I don't have to do anything else when I get home.  so I busted out a quick 2 mile 30 minute run in the heat I was sweating buckets but it I knew I could do it because it was only 30 minutes, and I didn't feel guilty that I didn't go to the gym.

I really got into the mind set of all or nothing and  I think that screwed me up.  So now I'm back to baby steps and taking it one day at a time.

Now that I have made you read a novel lol here is today's weigh-in.

I'm actually down .2 pounds go figure.  Hopefully the means my one day at a time attitude is working.

Weigh In Wednesday

Two weeks in a row, dare I say I might have found my groove again... Crap I probably just jinxed myself… But I did lose (not quite a pound this week but that's pretty normal for me after a week of a bigger loss (2+ pounds last week) .

This week what kept my streak going were just the basics.
Portion control.  I made my favorite chili Monday (I have been craving soups and chili for weeks) and instead of grabbing the huge bowl (that I could demolish and go back for more) I opted for a coffee mug perfect size about one cup and I felt satisfied instead of overly full.

I also got in a really good work out at the gym I tried a new made-up HIIT treadmill workout and it made the time go by pretty fast and I never got bored. I ran at a 5mph pace 1.5% incline for 2 songs then walked at a 3mph 5% incline for one song then a 3.5mph at a 18% incline for 2 more songs and did that 4 times.  I was drenched in sweat by the time I was done and had burned 500 calories!
photo bombed my the kiddo

and doing the thing that is the reason for my healthy lifestyle change
playing with my kidddo.  We took the bike out for a three mile ride to the park and back.  DQ did a great job keeping up on her new big girl bike and she even got me on the swings!

WiW…Progress is Not Always Perfection

Whoop Whoop I am actually down 2.2  freaking pounds this week!!

But I have a confession to make…. I didn't hit all my goals I set for the week.

1.Tracking check, I had that shit down, and even with all my fun weekend actitvites and going out to eat (a lot) I made sure to write every damn thing down. It may not have been perfect and I may have guesstimated a few things but at least I tried and had an idea of where I was.

2. Getting to the gym twice this week..nope not quite.  I did make it there once and it was a great work out I did 30 min on the elliptical and 20 minutes on the rowing machine.

3. At home activity…once YES!! actually more than that and that is also why I didn't make it to the gym more than once.  I was really trying to push myself to get to the gym another day but it was so hard to try and squeeze it in.  I had all my stuff packed and ready to go yesterday when DQ asked "hey mama can we go swimming?" I said no we have to go to the gym…Oh her poor little face and as I drove home to the gym I thought "What the hell am I doing??" This is why I am working so hard, to play and have fun with my kiddos. to be able to keep up with them and make lots of fun and active memories.  So I turned around and went home…to go swimming with my kid!!

here's a pic of me (and my crazy hair) afterward DQ was already getting the stuff ready for the "carwash".

And it was FUN, we played, had swimming races, and I had her doing a few "aqua class" type things with me first me being the "teacher" then her turn to show me some moves lol.
Afterwards we decided to have a carwash and sponge fight :)

It may not have been the gym workout I was planning but I made sure to really play hard and get in lots of movement so it would "count", and DQ and I had fun the ultimate goal.

DQ did a pretty good job of taking my pic I'd say :) but don't mind my weird face lol

California Girls

This weekend was so full of fun and awesomeness....It was bestie Carries b-day and we went for not one but for two days of California style celebration.  Friday I snuck out of work early to play on this piece of awesome

Yes that is a ginormous slip and slide!! Add that with a few Mai Tais and it is party central.  I was a good girl and the DD so I  only had two.  We also did a little swimming

and Carrie did a little more drinking, enough to let us throw her down the slide, yes we threw her lol it was epic!
Yes it's sideways ugh but it's too funny not to share!

Then we made our way to Fred's in Huntington Beach, little did we know it was the U.S Surf Open!  The place was packed and crawling with beach bums, I think every one of them in the state of California  was there.  But we had a good time and I was good here to one skinny margarita and fish tacos (grilled not fried, go me!). We went to HB Brew Co. after and had another drink (water for me aren't I good) then called it an early night because we planned to go paddle boarding early the next morning.

me and the littles (the younger girls)

Saturday we were up and out by 9 and off to Newport beach were we had a groupon for Balboa Fun Tours. When we got there we were a bit confused (as I have never done this before) it looked like the shop was not really near the water, (I expected it to be right on the beach) but guys at the shop were so nice they  told us that we would be right around the corner in the marina. They  got the boards loaded it up into a little wagon and biked it over to the beach for us gave us some quick instructions and we were off.  It was a bit tricky for a minute but once to get your balance it was pretty easy.

Remember I said I had heard it was a good core work out, it's true.  Nothing super intense, but you could feel your self working some muscles!

We had a blast paddling around the marina check out the beautiful houses and boats.  We got back a little early (we had two hours) so played around and  tried some yoga poses on top of our boards (this is a real thing, people actually do yoga on a paddle boards wtf??)

I rocked the shit out of that warrior pose!

Then TaTa had to show me up and do a back bend

I LOVED it and will be doing this again soon (I already bought another groupon) for $20 you can't beat it.

After we walked down to the beach and had some lunch, it really works up an appetite.

yes one more drink (a skinny mojito and the three of us shared that big ass basket of fish and chips.

What fun things did you do this weekend?

WIW...Out of My Comfort Zone

   Weigh In Wednesday

I'm down another pound 175.  It may not be much but this makes two weeks with a loss which is more than it's been in a while.  Slow and steady that's just he way it is for me.

This week has been pretty good Sunday I did a 5k run before the hubs went to work,
and Monday I was planning on going to the gym, but when I got home it was so darn hot and as I looked out the sliding glass door to the backyard I yelled at DQ to get her suit on and we played in the pool for almost two hours, and I mean play,  no lounging in the sun that day. I did a lot of stuff we do in aqua like running, wall explosions, jack and what ever elseI could remember.

Yesterday I totally stepped out of my comfort zone and hit up a Pilates class at my gym.  I met the teacher at a body pump class I took and I loved her teaching style (turns out she's a math teacher by day maybe that's why) she really took the time to make sure we were doing the lifts right and giving the more advanced class goers some hints on how to improve or tweak it to really get the most out of the class.
She and mentioned she also teaches Pilates I've always wanted to try it so I went.   I  really want to say I loved it, but I don't think it's for me.  Maybe before surgery I would have enjoyed it or could do it  but it is all core work and some moves it felt like my abs were going to rip apart... So I won't be doing that again  Maybe I'll try yoga?  Though Pilates wasn't for me I was happy I did a little something to step out of my comfort zone.

Another thing I did this weekend that was WAY out of my comfort zone was to put on an actual bikini!! Yes you heard that right.  I was a little nervous which was funny because it was on Sunday when it was just the Hubs and DQ.  But I haven't worn a bikini in over 15 years. I just thought,  I have worked hard to lose  weight,  Carrie had given me one as a hand me down and damn my belly is white.   So in all my whitness and imperfections here it is.

wow look at the difference my poor belly needs to see the sun!

What have you done to step out of your comfort zone??

WiW.... Back to Basics

Well here it is

I am actually down a pound :) and that included going to the beach, happy hour with the hubs, and a family BBQ so that is why I have decided to get back to basics.

I have finally decided to eff all this bullshit and get back to what I was doing when I first started.  I am so tired of toying with the same 5-10 pounds for the last year.  I don't know if it is a mental block or a keeping up with the Jones thing.. .  I know you thinking what the heck who is the freaking Jones's in this rant??

Let  me explain.

When I started this blog it was for me and my weight loss journey.  I did my own thing to get the weight off (basically moving my ass and eating healthy foods and less of it). I didn't worry about macros, Carbs or protein I didn't worry about what the new "exercise" fad was, I just did what felt good and worked with my life.

Then I started reading about other people doing this or that and the other and getting these great results (and more readers) . So I would hop on the band wagon, so many wagons, and if I didn't see fast enough results or ones similar to "them" I would go on to the next thing.

Turns out that doesn't work, at least not for me.  I'm sure it worked for them because they stuck to it and I kinda felt like I was falling back into my old ways of looking for a quick fix.  Even though it was a healthy one I never really seemed to give it my all, it was mostly to stay on "trend" with all the other bloggers...
That was my bad, and pretty dumb.  I'm not here to become a big time blogger (though I wouldn't stop it if it happened haha) I'm here to lose weight, be healthy, and a role model to my girls.  If any one else likes what I do and wants to read about it and find motivation from it that is just the cherry on top!

Believe me I want to be motivating and hope that someone out there reading this will say "hey she is a regular person and can do it so can I" because that's what happened with me.  But I need to be true and do what I do and not worry about trends, or looking the part.  I need to BE the part.

So I'm going back to basics,  simple easy meal planning, watching my portions, and moving my butt err damn day.

Speaking of, here was yesterday's workout
30 min on the elliptical alternating between ramp incline 5/10 resistance 2/10
10 min on the rowing machine
10 min treadmill 24% incline 3.0 mph (and boy is my booty feeling it today)
9 min cool down at 9% incline 2.0 mph

Thanks for listening to me and my craziness :)

Weigh In Wedensday with Nachos

Weigh In Wednesday

So not gonna lie, I was a little nervous about this weeks weigh in.  Yes I made a plan for our getaway, but I wasn't perfect.  I DID have those ah-mazing nachos and a few too many adult beverages.  But my goal has never been to be perfect just better (I think that's my new mantra) and that was accomplished.

So here's the damage.

I'm up 0.2.... It ok I'll take it.  Now to buckle down and get to business.  I'm going to Vegas in a month for a concert And my goal is to be under 170... So that means I need to lose about 5 lbs in a month, totally doable.

On to other things I go see the doctor Thursday (if you want to know more on why you can read this older post here)  I'm hoping he clears me and actually says yes to exercise.  I admit I have done more than just walk. I've been trying to "be good" but I'm feeling great and honestly I wanted to test myself out, a little bit so that's why I threw in a little jogging to my walk this past weekend.  I just couldn't help it, but I was very careful and did my best to listen to my body and really assess what I was feeling.

Who would have ever thought I would miss exercise this much!! CRAY-ZZ!

But I also know that I want to heal and heal well so I can come back better and stronger.  Cancer may have slowed me down but it ain't gonna stop me.

Even though I would have loved to get in a "run" in today I was a bit sore (probably from working back in the classroom. I'm easing my way back, I just miss those kiddos so much).  So instead of a run DQ and I took Dobby out for a walk.

Remember exercise doesn't need to be drastic, little changes add up.

What are you doing to get your fitness in?

Weigh-In Wednesday..a New Year Begins

button

Happy WIW.  I'm on the down side of the Yo-Yo this week 182.0 so that's -1.4 pounds lost this week.  I really was hoping to start May off in the 170's but alas that is not the case yet again this month.  It is driving me crazy that I can't seem to break this 180 mark ugh!   So I'm going to come up with a plan and set some goals for this month and break through that effing wall.

On another but similar note,

I can't believe I've been doing this for a whole freaking YEAR!!

In this last year I've only lost 40 pounds.  I say only because when I started my "new life"  I figured I would almost be at goal by now or hell at least close.  But I'm about half way there and even though I tend to bitch about how slowly the scale is moving, it is moving.  Maybe not every week but at least it's been pretty consistent and I don't feel as I have been starving myself, or been on a crazy crash diet that I can't maintain for the long haul.  It's been slow sooo slooww  and steady and it is something I have come to realize I CAN do for the rest of my life cause that folks is what it is. This IS the rest of my life.

In a year I may not have reached my "goal" weight but here are some awesome things that HAVE happened:

1. I went from a size 20 at 221lbs to a size 14 at 180ish

2. I couldn't even run a mile a year ago and in Feb of this year I ran my first Half Marathon

3. I actually have MUSCLES!!   I can do bicep curls with 17.5lb  weights and leg press 110lbs!

4.  I am HAPPIER and more CONFIDANT!!!

So even though I'm not yet where I want to be,  I am so far from where I was.

I can totally handle that!

Oh and totally go check out Erin and Alex and link up with their awesome Weigh-In Wednesday Par-TAy!  There are some cool peeps hanging out over there :)

That's Not Healthy

We all know that eating healthy, exercising,  and changing our habits for the better translates into smaller numbers on the scale, looking better, and, feeling better.

But how do we know when it's really sinking in??

Let me set the stage for you all...

It's  Wednesday in DQ's Kindergarten class and they are getting ready to have lunch.
In walks Nee's mom who brought McDonald's for her.  DQ walks up to her...

DQ: "Ya know you really shouldn't bring Nee McDonald's for lunch all the time"
MOM: "Oh really why is that?"
DQ: "Well it's really unhealthy."
MOM: "Really?"
DQ: "Yeah it has a lot of salt, and is cooked in oil, it also has a lot of fat and makes your body and heart work to hard, it clogs things up."
MOM: "Oh wow your right." (as she looks to the teacher with a who the hell is this kid look) "Do you ever have McDonald's?"
DQ: "Yes but only sometimes cause it's a sometimes food not an all the time food.  All the time food is fruit and vegetables and healthy things like that."
MOM: "Ummm your right thank you."  (the look now is WTF get me outta here)
DQ: "Your welcome. Oh and you have to run and go to the gym too cause that's healthy too."

Ummm yeah so that really happened, how do I know cause my best bud Mel is one of DQ's teachers and heard the whole thing.  She said that the mom was all flustered and looking to her like who the hell is this kid,  all while Mel is trying not to laugh!!

So Yeah that's how you know when your healthy habits are rubbing off...

Weigh - In Wednesday #48

Holy crap I've been at this for 48 weeks!!!

Wow that's amazing!

Welp this week's numbers are 183.2  a loss of 1.4lbs almost 40 pounds down, I'm happy with that.  The scale has been very slow going lately, but at least it's going in the right direction.

So this weekend a cute a furry little animal is going around filling baskets and such with a shit load of chocolate and sugar...ugg  damn bunny!

This also means family dinners or in my case brunch.  We are definitely a family who loves food and most of our gatherings revolve around it.  Brunch is at my brothers house this year, when I asked SIL what she wanted to bring the answer I got was..."whatever you want"... nice that leaves a lot.  So I changed my tactic and asked "What do you have already?" and I got the run down, ham eggs cinnamon rolls, bacon doughnuts, in other words not much of the healthy stuff (big surprise).

Ok I should add some back story here.  I love my brother and his family (yes SIL included, ok sometimes) but they are not very healthy or active,  but my brother is one of those people we love to hate that actually has to eat a ton to maintain his weight and is pretty active but the rest not so much.  But what eve who am I to judge, no one.  The problem lies that  ever since I started my weight loss or "healthy lifestyle" she asks my about it.  I never volunteer information or bad mouth anyone elses choices. I just do my thing,  anyway when she asks or it comes up in conversation of course I talk about it  (I'm damn proud of what I've done so far) and  you asked right.  Then come the excuses or the "oh ya that's normally how we do, but you know its a special occasion, vacation, or fill in the blank... but I call bullsh*t.  I'm not judging you so don't make excuses, you don't have to I don't really care what you are doing or how you live your life.  If you want help or advice I'm here I will help or just offer support.  But this is what really pisses me off to no end,  She will offer DQ a soda or candy (not just one but like a Costco bag) but always follow it up with a "Oh but you need to ask your mom first cause I don't think she will be ok with it"  then why offer it to her WTF??  and it's not that DQ or I for that matter can't have it we just do it in moderation.  Yes she can have a small sprite but not a giant Big Gulp of Mt. Dew, she can have a handful of M&M's but not a pound.   Besides being a bunch of crap and unhealthy DQ is a child and a hyper child, like she needs any extra sugar geesh!

So as you can see by my rant brunch will be interesting as is every family gathering.    In the end I think I'm going to bring a nice fruit salad and some low fat muffins and just do my thing and smile.  Also I will be totally rockin my cute new spring dress cause like I said I'm damn proud of what I've done and I'm going to show it off!!

New Routines

Yesterday the first day of trying out my "new" routine of staying late at work and running there.

It wasn't to bad I got off at 3:00pm changed and hit the pavement by 3:20pm.  I was a very pretty run I just went out and ran an out and back from work there are lots of trees and a lake so great scenery, and the most important thing I finished with plenty of light left :)  goal accomplished!

Then I grabbed DQ (alot of the parents were surprised to see me still there and in running clothes nol less..lol but I got a lot of high fives and that-a-girls)  and off we went to meet up with Grammie C to have dinner.  We ended up going to Wahoo's, a great taco place that I haven't been to in years and I totally forgot how yumm it was.  I did stay on plan though I probably did have a bit to much brown rice..oh well better that, then the cupcake place right :)

It was great to just sit and chat with Grammie C instead of the quick run down about DQ during drop offs (I'm not sure if I ever mentioned this but Grammie C and Bob *our "chosen" grandparents* take DQ for an over night once a week, normally on Fridays since DQ has started Kindergarten they don't get to see her as often as when they were her main care takers while me and the Hubs are at work and they miss her so much.  And come on a free Friday night Whoo-hoo gotta love it  we so lucked out with the best grandparents ever!)  So it was nice I love Grammie C she has become my Mom #2 and I don't know what I would do with out her she is like my other mom and my best friend, and my therapist all rolled into one.  And we both agreed that even after half marathon training this will have to become a regular occurrence :)

Grammie C, DQ, and Bob, look at all that love!

Grammie C and I being goofballs as always.

Opps Late Again

Damn I'm late with weigh in again...so sorry...I'll get my act together... someday...promise

Well the good news is I'm down 2 lbs  YAY!! the not great news is I still have 3.4 lbs to go before I'm back down to where I was before the holidays.

So yesterday was my first day back at work and back in to the routine of going to the gym.  A lot of the classes were "on break" over the last two weeks and the one time they actually had a class that I wanted to do and that fit my time frame I didn't make it because they didn't have enough staffing for Kid's Club...Ugh talk about buzz kill.  But we made the best of it and DQ and I headed to the park.  It's actually a pretty cool park, and it's the one that I loop a few times on my long runs.  It has this cool "gym" style equipment for you to use.  It's pretty basic but I love that the city is helping to make getting  healthy :) more accessible to everyone.

DQ trying out some of the equipment :)  A stair climber type thing
So today is kinda a scary day for me... In one month I will be running the Surf City Half Marathon
Holy cow ONE MONTH!!  Where has the time gone.  Some days it feels like I've been training forever like on those weekend long runs that seem to be never ending and others it feels like I don't think I'm ready , Have I trained enough??  I'm hoping that is just the nerves talking.  But that being said,  it has been a little harder getting my two short weekday runs in.  It gets so freaking dark so early and by the time I get home I have maybe 30-45 minutes before it gets dark, which would be fine if I was just doing 2-3 miles but I'm supposed to be doing 4-5 and it's just not enough time.  I've though about going to the gym and doing them on the treadmill, but I hate that.  I get super dizzy and off balance running on a treadmill I've almost fallen off twice, bad news for me but I'm sure pretty funny if you were the person behind me lol.

So I've decided to switch it up a bit since it's only a month I'm going to try stay later after work leave DQ at school and run there  (plenty of daylight).  Then just hang out with Grammie C and have dinner or  hang out write a blog post  until the traffic dies down, because if I don't leave by 3pm the traffic is a nightmare and will take me 2+ hours to get home.  So that is the plan...

Wednesday Weigh-In # 27

Not to much of a move 195.6 up just a tiny smidge 0.2 but I am good. I've had quite a few NSV's lately and feel great!!

Also 0.2 gain is actually pretty great considering I was away for 4 days, totally out of routine. I did make decent food choices and tried to get in a walk and did a  workout DVD ( yup made sure to bring one). But there were dinners out and some major wine consumption!  Also I skipped my 4 mile run on Sunday.  But now we are back and back to normal.

Another NSV,  it was very very cold and I so wasn't prepared
so The hubs offered his Thermal saying "sorry it might be a little
tight though"...  Ya not so much!

10.16.2012

What have I Done?

So I told ya'll I did something crazy and I was not lying... I actually still can't believe that I really did it and now I'm getting a little scared...

I am running a Half Marathon!!!

Yup you read that right to be specific I signed up for the Surf City Half Marathon in Huntington Beach California, on Super Bowl Sunday if your anything like me and pay no attention to football that's Feb. 3rd.

I have always dreamed of running walking, crawling a Half Marathon and always tell myself that when I become "a better runner" I will do it. So as I was chatting with Erin the other day  she said " Sign up... Just do it, you can totally rock this besides what do you have to lose?" And then the kicker  "if you do the half I'll upgrade to the full." Now I know this is a big deal for her, yes she has run 24 Half Marathons, but she has only ever run one full one before which was terrible ( according to her) and to quote her " I am NEVER doing that shit again" so for her to take that on I knew she had some faith in me or she is just a glutton for punishment and digs torture.

So before I could even think about it I did it... And was so happy for about 5 mins. Then I thought what the hell have I done " Oh. God. I can't possibly run a half marathon, how the hell do I get out of this one?" But then that's why I signed up without thinking cause if I had taken any more time I would have talked myself out of it like always.

I have learned a bit about myself and even a few things about other people on this weight loss life style change, like I would never become "a better runner" I would always find an excuse or a reason I couldn't do it, just like with losing weight. But I'm doing just that yes it may be slower than I like, but it's doable and I actually enjoy it (yes I just said I enjoyed eating healthy and exercising). So why not run that half marathon.  I may be slow, I may will have to walk, but I CAN do this!

So there you go that's my big news, if you have any tips I would love to hear them cause to tell ya the truth I'm still scared ....

You scream I scream

Just a quick post about something amazing... I think these LSC (life style changes) are finally catching on and becoming a habit!!

I'm sure most of you know I have a MAJOR sweet tooth and pretty much have to have dessert everyday.  Every time I would start a diet I would swear of sweets ya like that worked, then a few weeks down the line would binge like crazy on anything I could get my hands on be it a box of cookies or a tub of ice cream or both.  So when starting this "new" healthy life I had to figure out a way to incorporate my sugar addiction,  I decided I would just give in but on a way smaller scale.  So yes I still have dessert but I keep it with in reason like 2-3 cookies instead of as box, a small brownie and not the pan a scoop of ice cream not the carton.  I will admit it was hard at first and sometime still is but I am getting way better at it and sometimes it even come naturally.

A before and after of choices. On the left is the now, one regular scoop  and the giant red mug
is what I used to eat filled to the top and packed in.
