American Horror Story to Frozen

This week end was all about my girls.  Since this was the last weekend before the hubs and I leave for vacay I wanted to get in some girl time with them.

We have signed DQ up for gymnastics recently and she loves it.
We have been trying to fine her "thing" for a while.  We tried soccer for two seasons but she was never really into it and it was more of a fight to get her to go.  We came by gymnastics on a fluke actually.  I belong to 24 Hour Fitness and I love that there are so many all over.  I also pay the extra flat rate to be able to take DQ to the kids club whenever.  So we have tried a lot of the gyms between home and work.  One day out of the blue I asked her which one she like the best and her answer "TaTa's gym" what?? We've only been there once and it wasn't even a 24 Hour Fitness. I asked why she liked that one and it was because they did a kids fit class with them.
So I randomly started looking for kids gyms...ya not much out there.  There were a few kids crossfit, but the prices were kinda outrageous.  Then I saw gymnastics I figured close enough right so I took her to try a free class and she fell in love.  So now Friday gym nights take on a whole new meaning.

and bonus points for being next to a Yogurtland!

Saturday night TaTa came over for a bit to visit *aka borrow my sewing machine and make-up.
She was going to a Halloween party and need to finish up her costume.
Damn she is a great artist. She did this all by just looking a picture.
She was Tate Langdon from American Horror Story

Finally to wrap things up Sunday we went to a birthday party at Pump it Up.
It was a Frozen theme...I swear it need to be let go already lol...

Anna looked pretty good but Elsa was a bit questionable.

But at least she could face paint :)
I was very good at the party I had one slice of pizza and a ton of veggies, no dip.
I did have a small piece of cake which I had no guilt about since I had run in the morning, and did a ton of jumping at the party.
How was your weekend?

WiW…I'm Melting

Holy crap, it's been a week so sorry, the only excuse I have is that my brain has literally  melted!!
It is so freakin' hot here... summer decided it was not quite done with  yet and unleashed it's self on us here in Southern Cali.

So I'm going to try and recap my weekend and do a weigh-in with out making this a novel the best I can!!  This weekend was great (and did I mention HOT) but it didn't stop me from helping to celebrate my friend Nelle's big 40. We celebrated at Stg. Peppers Dueling Piano Bar in Long Beach.

I clean up pretty good :)

Then the hubs and I had to move our ass and get the chicken coop ready for move in.  The girls are getting ready to bust out of their indoor accommodations pretty quick.  It came along super nice and I must say I have a pretty awesome hubby to put up with all my crazy ideas and help me with them on top of it all.

I love my "fix-it" man.

Now on to WiW….
I am down 1 pound from the last wiw (two weeks ago) 177.4

I have been working hard even though last week was crazy and this week is even more so.  I am going out with the "crew" to see Katy Perry tonight after work, then tomorrow I have Back-to-School night for my school. and finally the Survivor Mud run on Saturday.

Here is some of the hard work I've been doing...

Now that TaTa lives closer we are able to hit the gym together.  Yesterday she asked me to go, I had nothing planned so I just followed her lead.  She has been doing a lot of heavy lifting and I am proud to say I was able to keep up!! (must be the Body Pump).

I also got this book this weekend end after hearing an interview with Kellie on the Half Size me podcast.  I am super excited  and have already read through most of it.  I love that it has a ton of pictures and explains what each exercise is for/targets.    It's def going to be a grab addition.

California Girls

This weekend was so full of fun and awesomeness....It was bestie Carries b-day and we went for not one but for two days of California style celebration.  Friday I snuck out of work early to play on this piece of awesome

Yes that is a ginormous slip and slide!! Add that with a few Mai Tais and it is party central.  I was a good girl and the DD so I  only had two.  We also did a little swimming

and Carrie did a little more drinking, enough to let us throw her down the slide, yes we threw her lol it was epic!
Yes it's sideways ugh but it's too funny not to share!

Then we made our way to Fred's in Huntington Beach, little did we know it was the U.S Surf Open!  The place was packed and crawling with beach bums, I think every one of them in the state of California  was there.  But we had a good time and I was good here to one skinny margarita and fish tacos (grilled not fried, go me!). We went to HB Brew Co. after and had another drink (water for me aren't I good) then called it an early night because we planned to go paddle boarding early the next morning.

me and the littles (the younger girls)

Saturday we were up and out by 9 and off to Newport beach were we had a groupon for Balboa Fun Tours. When we got there we were a bit confused (as I have never done this before) it looked like the shop was not really near the water, (I expected it to be right on the beach) but guys at the shop were so nice they  told us that we would be right around the corner in the marina. They  got the boards loaded it up into a little wagon and biked it over to the beach for us gave us some quick instructions and we were off.  It was a bit tricky for a minute but once to get your balance it was pretty easy.

Remember I said I had heard it was a good core work out, it's true.  Nothing super intense, but you could feel your self working some muscles!

We had a blast paddling around the marina check out the beautiful houses and boats.  We got back a little early (we had two hours) so played around and  tried some yoga poses on top of our boards (this is a real thing, people actually do yoga on a paddle boards wtf??)

I rocked the shit out of that warrior pose!

Then TaTa had to show me up and do a back bend

I LOVED it and will be doing this again soon (I already bought another groupon) for $20 you can't beat it.

After we walked down to the beach and had some lunch, it really works up an appetite.

yes one more drink (a skinny mojito and the three of us shared that big ass basket of fish and chips.

What fun things did you do this weekend?

Back to Normal

Life is somewhat going back to normal this week.  It's no less busy but at least I know what's coming.
This weekend we had to take Ash back home to Arizona.  This is actually only the second time we have had her for more than a few hours (in the early years the hubs and his ex did not get along at all, but in the last few years things are so much better.  Everyone seems to be in a happier place in their lives and getting along which is great.  It makes me so happy to work on becoming one big happy family and the ex is actually pretty ok).

So we started off early Saturday. As you all know I'm the morning person, and the commuter so of course I drove while they all slept.

Shh don't tell but I actually like it that way, it was a nice quiet drive with my thoughts and the radio.

After dropping Ash off we headed to our friends Amy and Jason it was great to see them and the girls and DQ had so much fun playing with them I really wish we could have stayed longer, next time for sure!

I shoved everyone in the car early again on Sunday to head home.  We hit a ton of thunder and lighting storms on the way home.  It was so neat to watch (we have very little "real" weather in Southern California). It even broke up enough to get a rainbow.

After sitting all that time I really need to move around, I thought about going to the gym but there was so much that needed to be done around the house, and DQ has been asking to plant the garden again, (obviously we are very late in our summer planting this year) and I just watched Food Inc..  (more on that later) so I went full force on the garden and that was my work out. When I was done I was dripping sweat and smelled like rosemary better than manure I guess but that rosemary bush was a bitch to get out!  It looks so pretty now though and hopefully we will have some melons, squash, peppers and a pumpkin or two (that was what DQ really wanted)  in a few months.

One last but awesome thing Tia over at Hand On Pants Off is hosting a giveaway for a $25 Target gift card, so why not head on over and enter!

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner

This weekend has been one of the best in a long time...
Saturday we decided to celebrate the first day of summer by going to the beach.
We ended up at Corona Del Mar and it was gorgeous. The hubs had to work so it was me and my girls and one of my dear friends Claudia (my partner in crime through much of my high school years lol)

I even made sure to stay on track by packing our lunches and snacks and NOT hitting up the little concession stand they had there. It also made it a pretty cheap day.  Though after all that  walking back and forth to the tide pools and hauling the cooler through the sand we figured  it was ok to have just a little treat!
and it was so worth it TaTa and I split a red velvet and a lemon blueberry it was so worth every bite.
Then Sunday I started off the day with a run TaTa had stayed the night so she joined me.  (She didn't have any P.J's or work out clothes so I gave her some of mine to try on and if it didn't work we could run out to Target.... It fit slightly baggy but it didn't fall off.  It was kinda cool the girl I wanna "borrow" clothes from was "borrowing" mine haha,  and she fit into them and didn't swim in them a NSV of sorts.) even down to the sports bra and shoes lol!

We ended our 3 miler at Starbucks and enjoyed a coffee and a mile walk back home.

Then we had some family stop by. It was short noticed but we had a blast and I did have enough time to hit up Costco to get stuff to BBQ and replenish the fruit and veggies for the week. Especially BLUEBERRIES I can not get enough of them lately.  This has been my go to breakfast the last couple of days.

Yum the honey adds just enough sweet to it :)
Last but not least, thank you to everyone who entered the $100 Victoria's Secret Giveaway.
The winner is ** Lindsay W.**  congrats girl !!
