Oh Hey 5 on Friday

So wrapping up the first full week after the holidays I'd have to say  who knew I could love a day so much…Thank god it's Friday.  So as always getting right to it.

{one}
Carrie and I started back with our Thursday night gym dates.  We went to a fancy one in the Spectrum (a mall) I've never been to a gym at the mall before. It was nice and even had a water feature cause we all need one of those in our gym.

{two}
Been burning the calories this week and just gonna keep at it and hope the weight will follow.

{three}
I was not completely perfect with meals this week . The Hubs and I had a chance to go to happy hour ALONE so we took full advantage.  I didn't use it as an exuse to go crazy though. I did have a drink or two but instead of all the fried apps I went with a very yummy beet salad. It's all about the balance.

{four}
I love how silly my oldest TaTa and I are.  Some times we will text each other in just meems.  Or do this...

while in Arizona the hubs and his bestie were being funny and taking a bunch of selfies (I posted it here) Then I saw this yesterday…

Uh-oh I better keep an eye on the hubs….
Have a great weekend everyone!

WiW…Spiraling Out of Control

Yup it's back to reality… There are no more excuses.  so here it is in all it's unwanted glory…

I have packed on a few holiday pounds, but guess what I'm over it. I'm moving on and going to get things done.  I can wallow in what I could have done or what I should have done different, I'm not going to do that I'm am just gonna do it.

Last year I wanted to be fabulous by forty (about a month and half away) whelp it didn't happen quite as I wanted it to.  I'm up about 10 pounds from this time last year so instead of being fab as I turn forty I'm going to make forty my bitch!! and I'm starting NOW.

I am getting in my workouts weather it be at home or the gym.  I did just take my happy ass to gym last week and handed over my christmas bonus to my trainer and politely asked her to get my ass into gear.
They have a new program at 24 Hour Fitness called TC24 basically its small group training at a more affordable price. (12  one hour sessions for $200) so it works out to be 3 days a week for a month not to bad.  I just need some help being accountable and Soben  (my trainer) was really great at keeping me in check.

It doesn't start until next week so in the mean time I've been woking at the gym on my own or doing my resistance bands at home (I'll have to get the hubs to get a picture of me in the act).

Also my eating has been on point. I threw away all the crap I could (with out giving DQ or the hubs heart failure) and have been using this awesome christmas present my mom gave me.

I want to spiral all the veggies.  Don't get me wrong I can't trick myself into thinking its pasta or nothing but I like veggies and this is a fun and easy way to eat them.
This is zucchini with pesto and chicken.

and this is also zucchini tossed with marina and turkey meatballs.

So I am determined to make this year a fan-freaking-tastic one.  I may not have come in like a lion but damned I'm come it out of it one hot cougar! lol

A Little Late...But I'm Ready

Hello??   Anyone still there?....

Well if you are,  thank you :)  seems Christmas came in and everything else went out.  I had all these lofty goals of what I wanted to get done on the blog, around my house, at the gym.  Instead it was a lot of family time.  So really it was great!  I may not have done everything I wanted but I spent so much time with my family and friends and who can complain about that.

I'm a little late to the recap party but I'm gonna do it anyway.
Christmas was great, very low key I had the family over for Christmas eve dinner then it was just the Hubs DQ and myself on Christmas day.  We watched movies played with our new toys and enjoyed each others company.

Saturday after Christmas we drove to the California/Arizona border to pick up Ash so she could spend the week with us.  Always a long drive but so worth it we love having her she is such a sweetie and DQ just loves her.

We did a lot of fun things while she was here unfortunately the hubs had to work the first few days so my mom and I took the girls out and went ice staking in Old Town Temecula.

the next day we went to the trampoline park were we all jumped for two hours straight.  Even grandma.  Holy cow was I sore the next day, but still so much fun, and not to mention a great workout.

New Year was low key as well, we invited our friends over to just hang out, snack and play a little Cards Against Humanity (seriously the funniest and most inappropriate game ever) while the girls played Just Dance and watched movies.  None of us made it to midnight seeing as we are so old. We called it a happy new year at 10:00 and I was asleep by 11:00 such a party animal.

This weekend we wrapped up our break by taking Ash all the way back to AZ.  We left a day early so we could spend the weekend with our friends in Phoenix  (the husbands have been besties for like ever... seriously like high school forever)

They also have girls DQs age so they loved playing together and we sat around a caught up on life.  We used to go out a visit them almost monthly, but life gets busy so now we are only doing 3-4 times a year.
Caught in the act, even though they may deny it boys take selfies too!

And even though I didn't work out nearly enough over the break I did get in a run with Amy (she just ran her firsk 5K non stop!!) so proud and now she is thinking of running a half...and I'm thinking if she does I may go out there and do it with her.

and like I said I didn't work out or hit the gym as much as I wanted, but I wasn't a total couch potato. I went on a few hikes and runs, made it to the gym once and I also played with my awesome at home resistance band work out gear that the hubs got me.  I also found this cool fitbook at Target while doing some after Christmas shopping.

So now I am reved up and ready to go for the new year!!  Watch out.

She Left Me...

 This weekend we shipped the little one off to grandma's just so we could have a quiet weekend (I tell you grandparents are the best!!)   So I started my Saturday off by dropping my car  at the dealers for service.  Since it's only a few miles from my daughter's we had decided that I would run to her house then she would drop me off at home so I could get some stuff done and then meet up later so I could pick up my car then we would go get a massage.

So after dropping off my car I ran to her place and stood outside and text her. She didn't answer right away so I ran around the block then I finally got a text back…that little shit forgot about me really.... She had stayed at her boyfriends WTH!!  I will give her points for offering to come get me (it was still pretty early) but I told her to forget (and to let her feel a little guilt lol) and called the hubs to come get me, it was a beautiful cool morning I told him I would just keep running until he found me. About 2 miles later we finally met up, so what was going to be a quick 2 miler turned into about 4.  Bonus points right.

He found me!

Then sunday I was debating about going hiking but decided to do it,  I love this sunday morning routine.  I get to catch up with my girl hit the framers market, and not feel guilty about having a baleg after the 5 mile hike :) and this week I met her new guy.
He was very nice and bonus was able to keep up lol.

another beautiful morning.

When I got home it was time to clean the coop and spend some time with my other girls.
They totally think they are lap chickens.

5 on Friday

Holy Crap! October is halfway over already! I can't believe how fast this year has gone by.

{one}
I am proud to say that I still have not bought ANY halloween candy (yet).  Mostly because we are leaving for DR on the 31st so my mom is taking DQ trick-or-treating so no one will be home to pass out candy.

{two}
I am finally in the pumpkin everything spirit.  I tried this the other day, a rice cake with some Trader Joe's pumpkin butter on top. Wasn't bad, wasn't great.  I think I prefer it mixed in my oatmeal, now that is heaven.

{three}
October is fire safety month.  So we have two dads at our school who are firefighters, they came and did an awesome presentation for the kiddos.

{four}
Day three of my work outs hitting over 500 calories burned.  Dare I say I'm on a roll.

{five}

Yesterday was kinda a bummer we went to our body pump class only to find out is has been changed to Insanity.  We did give it a chance and it was a great burn but I really missed Body Pump.

Have a GREAT weekend!

WiW…Waffles and Workouts

It's a weigh in wednesday with no actual weigh-in, this week.

It's got a little to do with this...
But mostly because I wasn't home.  Yesterday was DQ's back to school night so I stayed at Carrie's house and got to sleep in a whole hour (5:30)!!  But yes after the school thing, Grammie and I went to Bruxie's for dinner.  It was sooo good and worth every bite, I will be going again but maybe as a treat meal after a killer hike or a race.

I have been killing the workouts again Monday DQ had a bit of a pool party hangover (aka too much swimming in water not enough drinking it) and didn't feel good so she stayed home.  When the hubs got home I was able to hit the gym before the after work crowd.
Since it was pretty empty still I did something I never do... free weights.  I don't know why I feel so uncomfortable "lifting" on my own but I really like it so I put on my big girl panties and did it!

I have a few of these workouts I put together and printed out, but I felt a little like a dork bringing in the paper so I just too a picture with my phone and referred back to that  when I needed to.

Guess what no one stared, no one pointed and laughed or told me I din't know what I was doing, in fact no really cared.  I got in a great workout, and felt awesome!

and even though I don't have a "scale" measurement today I have this.

Pictures can speak a thousand words.

Petting Zoos and Pools

Look at DQ she is in heaven!!

 I sent this picture to the hubs and he asked "What are those?" my response "Our new pets!" he about had a heart attack seeing as I talked him into chickens a few short weeks ago lol.  He was happy to hear that they were Guinea pigs and that none were coming home with us. (We were at a birthday party at Zoomars a petting zoo in San Juan Capistrano).

After the party we headed home to make these sinful things otherwise know as "Slutty Brownies" that evil bitch!

to take to an end of summer work pool party… and yes they love and hate me for them!

The pool party was in Canyon Lakes so I pretty much drove 200 miles in one day for parties.
but so worth it.  Sun, water and friends.

again to many weekend snacks and those damn brownies, cause of course I had to do quality control first, then I may have had one two more that night ugh.

To try and redeem myself, I got my ass out of bed at the crack of dawn Sunday to hike the Claremont Loop with TaTa.  It was so stinking hot and muggy even at 6 in the morning, but we got it done.

and that was all before 9 am!!
The rest of the day was spent in the pool trying to stay cool and not snack.

WiW.... Not Enough Equals Too Much

Ugg…I knew it wasn't going to be good, but seriously.
  I'm up 2.8 this week.

It doesn't help that it's that time of month, could also be why I had such a hard time saying no to all those yummy treats I got for the girls why Ash was here.

Pizza and sundae making…

S'mores by the pool

I was really hoping to jump right back on track full force but it's taking all I have latley.  I am getting some activity in (because come on exercise doesn't always have to mean the gym, it can be fun too)  but not nearly as much as I have wanted (it's just so damn hot).  But I at least getting in my steps, getting the garden (yard) up to par,  and swimming ok splashing a lot in the pool with DQ, but it's definitely not enough.

This weekend is Carrie's birthday and we are doing dinner and drinks in Huntington Beach but at least it will be followed by paddle boarding the next morning.  I'm so excited!! We found a Groupon for it so decided to try, I have heard it's a great core workout!  We will see, and since we will be heading to the beach early that should keep most of the "drinking" in check. I'm not sure how hang-overs and paddle boarding would go, and I'm honestly getting to old to find out.

I haven't made any goals in a while so this week I will and it will be to make it to the gym at least twice this week and do one at home "fun" activity. Also really watch what I an eating and track everything.

WiW… No Rest for the Wicked

Weigh In Wednesday

After a week of no workouts and no calorie counting….

So as I expected I am up 2.6 pounds.  I honestly thought I would be more seeing as I only got in one good workout while on vacation. Not to mention all the sitting we did while traveling all over.  Also all the fantastic Mexican food we ate!!  So I'm ok with it and like Desiree from Skinny Geek Within told me Monday "now time to get back to work!" and that's what I'm doing.

Of course it's still not easy, because I'm really not back to my regular routine.  As soon as I got home from Mexico the next day we drove 3 hours to the  Arizona/California border to pick up my step-daughter Ash and turned right back around to go home (she is staying the week).  Which meant more sitting, but at least there were restaurants with salad (and milkshakes but I refrained except for one or two bites)
I may be turning into a rabbit.  And this weekend we are driving her all the way back to Phoenix (5hrs) but at least we will be making it an overnighter and staying with our  friends Amy & Jason. It's been forever since we saw them last.

Though this week is crazy trying to figure out where the girls will be, or who will stay home with them, it's all working out!  I've even managed to get in some work outs.  I got a 3 mile run in on Saturday

then sunday I went for a 5 mile hike with Claudia and her sis in law Debbie.

Followed by all day at Knott's Berry Farm.
 Holy crap I don't know what I was thinking, my legs are still quivering, and my fitbit said I had walked over 24,000 steps and climbed 175 flights of stairs!

My goal was to hit up the gym on Monday & Tuesday but I was so tired that I 've been asleep  7:30pm.  So today I will make it to Aqua cause I LOVE the class and I gotta lose those 2.6 pounds.
