WiW…Spiraling Out of Control

Yup it's back to reality… There are no more excuses.  so here it is in all it's unwanted glory…

I have packed on a few holiday pounds, but guess what I'm over it. I'm moving on and going to get things done.  I can wallow in what I could have done or what I should have done different, I'm not going to do that I'm am just gonna do it.

Last year I wanted to be fabulous by forty (about a month and half away) whelp it didn't happen quite as I wanted it to.  I'm up about 10 pounds from this time last year so instead of being fab as I turn forty I'm going to make forty my bitch!! and I'm starting NOW.

I am getting in my workouts weather it be at home or the gym.  I did just take my happy ass to gym last week and handed over my christmas bonus to my trainer and politely asked her to get my ass into gear.
They have a new program at 24 Hour Fitness called TC24 basically its small group training at a more affordable price. (12  one hour sessions for $200) so it works out to be 3 days a week for a month not to bad.  I just need some help being accountable and Soben  (my trainer) was really great at keeping me in check.

It doesn't start until next week so in the mean time I've been woking at the gym on my own or doing my resistance bands at home (I'll have to get the hubs to get a picture of me in the act).

Also my eating has been on point. I threw away all the crap I could (with out giving DQ or the hubs heart failure) and have been using this awesome christmas present my mom gave me.

I want to spiral all the veggies.  Don't get me wrong I can't trick myself into thinking its pasta or nothing but I like veggies and this is a fun and easy way to eat them.
This is zucchini with pesto and chicken.

and this is also zucchini tossed with marina and turkey meatballs.

So I am determined to make this year a fan-freaking-tastic one.  I may not have come in like a lion but damned I'm come it out of it one hot cougar! lol

WiW....The Big Easy or So I Hope

I'm up a bit this week just a bit over a pound 180.6.  Seriously it was those cookies.  I can just say no to Thanksgiving (seeing as I stayed the same that week  but put a cookie in front of me and all bets are off.

But I'm getting right back to business because I am giving myself 7 weeks to lose 10 pounds (I'm shooting for 15 but I will be totally happy with 10)  because in 7 weeks this is happening!!!

Yup the hubby did it, he is taking TaTa and I (and TaTa's boyfriend) to New Orleans for our 21st and 40th birthdays (our bdays are exactly one month apart.)  I can't even tell you how excited we are.

So to keep on track and lose that weight I stocked up at the farmers market this weekend.

The beets are so good.  I can't believe that it has taken me all this time to actually like beets.

#beetproblems

I also found some yummy brussel sprouts (yup just started liking those too)

and of course keeping up with the workouts.

WIW...She's Alive..

Why Hello… Yes I am actually still alive.  The Holiday craziness is in full swing and I seem to have not been prepared for it. Between people calling for last minute photo shoots, getting my Christmas craft on and being that mom thing I have not had much time to blog.

So I will do a quick catch up for you all, before I weigh in  dun, dun ,duunnn

So I started out Thanksgiving day with a beautiful 5 mile run (a slog really but at least I got my butt out there).  It was slow but I really enjoyed it so what ev.

I followed my run with some turkey pancakes lol...

not what you though huh I saw this really cool FB post on this guy who makes all kinds of crazy pancake art, so I thought I would give it a try.  I may not be Picasso but DQ loved it.

Then of course I ate all the carbs

The rest of the weekend was pretty mellow. I did some Christmas shopping (no crazy Black Friday stuff just some get up when I felt like it and browse the store with a red starbucks cup in hand).
Saturday a family that I babysat for asked if I would do an all day thing. We weren't busy and the extra cash is always handy this time of year and DQ loves to play with A.

I did ask if I could run some errands with A and they said sure they'd leave the carseat, but when I got there they had changed their mind and asked if I would mind using their car since the car seat was a bitch to get out...

Ummm hello no problem!! Yes that beautiful car right there was my ride for the day.  Porsche Panamera I think I love you! It drives like a dream (yes that kinda dream lol) and it fit two car seats why you would put a car seat in one though... Any way it was fun being all fancy for the day.

So now it's back to reality (and my Prius)... and of course weigh in time

So I stayed the same. I actually was up a bit last week (due to my monthly friend) and am back down again. Hey after thanksgiving I'll take that as a win :)

WiW...I May Have Found the Secret.

Happy WiW everyone.  I have been working.  Not necessarily  working out  but working at figuring out why my weight loss has seemed to have stalled this last year.  I know some of it has been because I've bounced around and tried different things (you can read about that here). Then one day I started going through old blog posts and thinking about what I was doing not just on the blog but in my life

then it came to me...
I was doing a lot of crafting.  I love to craft, I love trying new crafts, I even turned TaTa's old room into my crafting/office when she moved out.

I sew, do paper crafting, some jewelry making, and bows.  I used to LOVE to make hair bows.
I would sell them at my school and even had an etsy shop for a bit.  Then for some reason I just fell out of it.
When I was reflecting I really thought about it and tried to figure out why I was doing better with my weight during that time. DUH... I was busy, busy making or sewing.  Planning or taking pictures.  My hands were always busy.
EUREKA!!
My hands and mind were busy.  So there was no mindless snacking.  I would stop long enough to make and eat meals, and I wouldn't go back for seconds because I needed to get back and finish what I was working on. I wasn't mindlessly eating.   HOLY CRAP! I think I may have found the answer.
Also I love to watch TV and lately I've been sitting with DQ or at the kitchen table with my iPad and watch but then I would get bored and start looking for things to snack on. So I just brought my iPad in to my craft room/office and watched it while I was working on things.

and this is the result of finding the secret to hopefully my success  …
down 3.4 pounds

Now, any guesses to what I'm doing next? lol

WiW...Look At Me I'm A Yo-Yo

Seriously I really do feel like a damn yo-yo…down a little up a little.  This week up almost a pound.  Looks like I'm not going to make my goal of getting into the 160 by the time vacay rolls around unless I chop off a limb or something.  *Sigh*

Ugh I am really getting tired of this I feel as though I am taking two steps forward and one step back.
I have been hitting it hardhat the gym doing HIIT workouts and lifting last week I only took one rest day.

I have been doing pretty good with food (not perfect but ok) I'm tracking my calories and staying with in them (except for maybe a day a week) but even then it's not super over.

I really feel like I am in a slump. *sigh again*

Any one have any advice?? Help

WiW…Waffles and Workouts

It's a weigh in wednesday with no actual weigh-in, this week.

It's got a little to do with this...
But mostly because I wasn't home.  Yesterday was DQ's back to school night so I stayed at Carrie's house and got to sleep in a whole hour (5:30)!!  But yes after the school thing, Grammie and I went to Bruxie's for dinner.  It was sooo good and worth every bite, I will be going again but maybe as a treat meal after a killer hike or a race.

I have been killing the workouts again Monday DQ had a bit of a pool party hangover (aka too much swimming in water not enough drinking it) and didn't feel good so she stayed home.  When the hubs got home I was able to hit the gym before the after work crowd.
Since it was pretty empty still I did something I never do... free weights.  I don't know why I feel so uncomfortable "lifting" on my own but I really like it so I put on my big girl panties and did it!

I have a few of these workouts I put together and printed out, but I felt a little like a dork bringing in the paper so I just too a picture with my phone and referred back to that  when I needed to.

Guess what no one stared, no one pointed and laughed or told me I din't know what I was doing, in fact no really cared.  I got in a great workout, and felt awesome!

and even though I don't have a "scale" measurement today I have this.

Pictures can speak a thousand words.

WiW....Letting Go

Hi today is WiW and my weekend recap since I was to lazy(not gonna lie) to post on Monday.

It's not bad but I am up one pound. Honestly that is way better than I thought it was going to be.

I fully expected it with all about the salty snacks this weekend.  But I stuck with make sure to exercise though I did take Friday and Monday as rest days.

My baby is all grown up... and that makes me one old proud mama.
We spent the weekend moving TaTa in to her own apartment, not even roommates. She is doing it all on her own.  Like I said this makes me so proud and happy for her but at the same time a little nervous a worried.  Not that she won't be able to do it, that I know she can do. It's just the living all alone that scares me a bit, luckily she is pretty close by though. I just have to let her go and trust in her.  Moving actually went pretty quick though seeing as she really hasn't accumulated a bunch of crap yet...But oh the stairs, I swear I must climbed 100 flights.

After we were done we met up with friends and had dinner at Lazy Dog.  I wasn't to bad I stuck with the chicken lettuce wraps but I did have a few nachos and a few too many sangrias.

Sunday I woke up early and picked up TaTa (bouns of her living so close now) and we hiked the Claremont Loop going up seemed to take forever but then we ran most of the way down.  Then hit up the farmers market for some fresh veggies and of course a starbucks.  I also finally got my chicken coop it's too cute and we got most of it together I just wasn't to weather proof it before we finish it.

Monday was super laid back, our friends came over and we swam and relaxed by the pool.  It was a little harder to be as good food wise with all the yummy chips and dip around (they brought lunch) and an awesome sub sammie.  Again with a few drinks so no wonder my weigh is up.  Time to get back to it.

WiW…All or Nothing

Hi Guys, thanks for letting me vent yesterday.  I have just been in a funk lately. trying my best to stick to something...anything really.  I think summer just got the best of me, to tell the truth this year has got the best of me.   I don't know if it's because of the surgery or all these fricken  aches and pains due to surgery. Not that I'm trying to make excuses.  Yes some of those aches and pains make it a little harder to go all out at the gym or on runs but I am still fully capable of going for a walk, and  make healthy food choices.  There is no reason for me to be sitting there at night mindlessly snacking,  (and yes Desiree you hit the nail on the head it's just boredom).
After writing that I have been trying to be more mindful of what I'm eating and doing.  Even though I still feel in a bit of a funk I am working on getting back into good habits. I'm really working on NOT snacking. the plan is to come home make and eat dinner then 20minutes later I can have dessert.  But only ONE!  It can be whatever I want but one sensible portion. As for working out my goal is to get in  at least 30 minutes 5 times a week. Again it can be what ever I want a walk, run, swim, or weights but at least 1/2 hour if it's more great, but I won't force myself to always go big because then I just won't do it if I'm not feeling it.
So far  Monday I made myself go to the gym and told myself I could just walk for 1/2  hour then I could go home.  But when I got there I ended up doing the elliptical, then I figured ok I'll just add 15 minutes of stairs.  When I was done I went to get DQ from kids club but she begged to stay a little longer (they were doing relay races) so I walked on the treadmill for another 15min so all in all I got a whole hour in.
Tuesday I had a ton to do at home (aka fight DQ on homework... it's already started)
so I told myself if I run on my lunch (1/2 hour) then I don't have to do anything else when I get home.  so I busted out a quick 2 mile 30 minute run in the heat I was sweating buckets but it I knew I could do it because it was only 30 minutes, and I didn't feel guilty that I didn't go to the gym.

I really got into the mind set of all or nothing and  I think that screwed me up.  So now I'm back to baby steps and taking it one day at a time.

Now that I have made you read a novel lol here is today's weigh-in.

I'm actually down .2 pounds go figure.  Hopefully the means my one day at a time attitude is working.

WiW…Progress is Not Always Perfection

Whoop Whoop I am actually down 2.2  freaking pounds this week!!

But I have a confession to make…. I didn't hit all my goals I set for the week.

1.Tracking check, I had that shit down, and even with all my fun weekend actitvites and going out to eat (a lot) I made sure to write every damn thing down. It may not have been perfect and I may have guesstimated a few things but at least I tried and had an idea of where I was.

2. Getting to the gym twice this week..nope not quite.  I did make it there once and it was a great work out I did 30 min on the elliptical and 20 minutes on the rowing machine.

3. At home activity…once YES!! actually more than that and that is also why I didn't make it to the gym more than once.  I was really trying to push myself to get to the gym another day but it was so hard to try and squeeze it in.  I had all my stuff packed and ready to go yesterday when DQ asked "hey mama can we go swimming?" I said no we have to go to the gym…Oh her poor little face and as I drove home to the gym I thought "What the hell am I doing??" This is why I am working so hard, to play and have fun with my kiddos. to be able to keep up with them and make lots of fun and active memories.  So I turned around and went home…to go swimming with my kid!!

here's a pic of me (and my crazy hair) afterward DQ was already getting the stuff ready for the "carwash".

And it was FUN, we played, had swimming races, and I had her doing a few "aqua class" type things with me first me being the "teacher" then her turn to show me some moves lol.
Afterwards we decided to have a carwash and sponge fight :)

It may not have been the gym workout I was planning but I made sure to really play hard and get in lots of movement so it would "count", and DQ and I had fun the ultimate goal.

DQ did a pretty good job of taking my pic I'd say :) but don't mind my weird face lol

WiW.... Not Enough Equals Too Much

Ugg…I knew it wasn't going to be good, but seriously.
  I'm up 2.8 this week.

It doesn't help that it's that time of month, could also be why I had such a hard time saying no to all those yummy treats I got for the girls why Ash was here.

Pizza and sundae making…

S'mores by the pool

I was really hoping to jump right back on track full force but it's taking all I have latley.  I am getting some activity in (because come on exercise doesn't always have to mean the gym, it can be fun too)  but not nearly as much as I have wanted (it's just so damn hot).  But I at least getting in my steps, getting the garden (yard) up to par,  and swimming ok splashing a lot in the pool with DQ, but it's definitely not enough.

This weekend is Carrie's birthday and we are doing dinner and drinks in Huntington Beach but at least it will be followed by paddle boarding the next morning.  I'm so excited!! We found a Groupon for it so decided to try, I have heard it's a great core workout!  We will see, and since we will be heading to the beach early that should keep most of the "drinking" in check. I'm not sure how hang-overs and paddle boarding would go, and I'm honestly getting to old to find out.

I haven't made any goals in a while so this week I will and it will be to make it to the gym at least twice this week and do one at home "fun" activity. Also really watch what I an eating and track everything.
