WiW... Can't Keep Up

Holy smokes all I can't believe it's already Wednesday and almost the end of the month. Our new schedule has time flying by.  Pretty much I am busy every night during the week and that's after working a full day and commuting 1-2 hours one way.  Since starting the new TC24 training we meet 3 times  Mon, Wed, Fri. From 6-7 then on Tues & Fri DQ has gymnastics and Thursday is girls gym night with my BFF Carrie.  I pretty much have not been home all month.

The good news at least is the weekends have been pretty quiet, so Sunday the hubs decide he wanted to go to breakfast, since I didn't get a run in I talked him into walking to the restaurant, and to my surprise he actually said ok! It was a fun walk with the family and not to long just over a half mile one way.
Even though we went out I still wanted to make the healthier choice so here is the yummy veggie omelette and side of fruit but those damn hash browns were calling my name happy to say I didn't cave. #onepointme

Training club has been super awesome I am loving the accountability and of course Doben is always awesome and ready to get my ass in gear.  On Friday I totally had Biggest  Loser moment...we did 1/4 sprint on the treadmill and Soben came by and bumped my speed from a 5.2 all the way to a 7.1 and told me not to touch it!  Holy shit I was freaking out but I so did it I'm not sure if it was cause I was scared to fall on my face or look like an ass with all the other ladies around but I did it 4 FREAKING TIMES!!!

and the consistent burn is right on track.

This is the current group of ladies that are trying now.  They are all really nice and everyone encourages everyone. I love the camaraderie of group I really hope that 24 hour fitness keeps this program around awhile, and it's actually pretty affordable compared to one on one training.

and finally here it is down another pound.  Awesome!

WiW… I'm Trying

Sorry for the late weigh in. It's been a rough week. I am actually down a bit ( not quite a pound) I wasn't expecting much so this is good.  182.8

As I said this week was pretty hard Monday we had a funeral to go to, and it was very difficult.  My cousin lost his 19 year old son very unexpectedly.
TaTa drew this portrait of  "little" Timmy to give to his dad.  I am in awe of her talent and have no idea where she gets it from.

Since it has been a busy week and DQ started up school, added a day of gymnastics and my group training started we are trying to get into the new routine.  I have discovered I pretty much have no time so I had to use my lunch break to hit up the grocery store #noexuses

and yesterday was my first day at group training.  So far I really like this group of ladies, a lot of them are new to training so we are starting out a little on the easier side but Soben is so awesome and modifies mine so it's a little harder or adds more weight for me.  I already feel it in my booty :)

my burn from last night.

WiW…Spiraling Out of Control

Yup it's back to reality… There are no more excuses.  so here it is in all it's unwanted glory…

I have packed on a few holiday pounds, but guess what I'm over it. I'm moving on and going to get things done.  I can wallow in what I could have done or what I should have done different, I'm not going to do that I'm am just gonna do it.

Last year I wanted to be fabulous by forty (about a month and half away) whelp it didn't happen quite as I wanted it to.  I'm up about 10 pounds from this time last year so instead of being fab as I turn forty I'm going to make forty my bitch!! and I'm starting NOW.

I am getting in my workouts weather it be at home or the gym.  I did just take my happy ass to gym last week and handed over my christmas bonus to my trainer and politely asked her to get my ass into gear.
They have a new program at 24 Hour Fitness called TC24 basically its small group training at a more affordable price. (12  one hour sessions for $200) so it works out to be 3 days a week for a month not to bad.  I just need some help being accountable and Soben  (my trainer) was really great at keeping me in check.

It doesn't start until next week so in the mean time I've been woking at the gym on my own or doing my resistance bands at home (I'll have to get the hubs to get a picture of me in the act).

Also my eating has been on point. I threw away all the crap I could (with out giving DQ or the hubs heart failure) and have been using this awesome christmas present my mom gave me.

I want to spiral all the veggies.  Don't get me wrong I can't trick myself into thinking its pasta or nothing but I like veggies and this is a fun and easy way to eat them.
This is zucchini with pesto and chicken.

and this is also zucchini tossed with marina and turkey meatballs.

So I am determined to make this year a fan-freaking-tastic one.  I may not have come in like a lion but damned I'm come it out of it one hot cougar! lol

WiW... Back on Track

So this is the damage from vacation. It's not pretty. 6 pounds up,  I knew there would be some gain but I was hoping for less. But it is, what it is and I can only go forward from here.

And even though I'm back from vacation I haven't really been home.  Yesterday was our staff development day and they put us up at the beautiful Shorebreak Hotel in Huntington Beach.

And even though I just wanted to sit on the balcony with this beautiful view and a glass of wine telling myself "just one more day" I grabbed my kicks and headed to the beach path for a run.

Then I had that glass of wine with these awesome girls.

And since we weren't fully ready to be back Carrie and I decided to pretend we were still on island time.
I am still a little messed up with my time so I was up at the crack of dawn.  I chanced it and text Barb to see if she was wake...she was so I told her to get moving and meet me in lobby for a morning run.  We did a quick 5k then spent the rest of the day at our staff development.
I am so glad that I made myself get up and get back on track instead of falling into old habits.  Yes I gained (a bit much) over vacation and I'm not happy but I don't regret it and I'm back full force ready to get working again.

This may not be the Caribbean but really how awesome is Southern California in November.

WiW....Sweat Bomb

Weigh In Wednesday
I'm back down, but only a few ounces. I really wish things would move a little faster, but I guess as long as it's moving (down) I shouldn't bitch.
It had been a pretty quiet week so far. The hubs has been out of town since Monday for work.  This is both good and bad, bad because I miss him when he's gone, but good because I don't feel so bad being at the gym.  He really doesn't give me crap about it, it's all me. I'm sure I've said this brfore but I commute a long ways to work every fricken day so that means I'm pretty much gone from 5am to 5pm then if I hit the gym right after I end up getting home after 6 most of the time and we go to bed pretty early (between 8-9) since we get up at 4am so that doesn't leave much time for a whole lot.

Any way I digress, since he's been gone I have turned into a sweat bomb (thanks DQ for helping with the pic though she took like 500 lol)

and that smile is coming straight from the heart.  I did my treadmill HIIT workout. Then I was feeling so good with the running parts I ran another 2 miles after.

Look at that burn, and my legs have that great achy feeling, not bad but just enough to let em' know who's boss.

Another great thing when the hubs is gone is that if I don't feel like cooking I can just make a protein smoothie.  I found this while browsing online the other day. The brand is Cellucor and they have a bunch of different flavors I haven't really seen and the great thing is the sell them in a 4 serving "trial" pack. It's a little more than buying the big one, but I hate when I buy something then turns out I don't like it.  It's worth the extra to test it out.  So far I've tried the Red Velvet (yum!) Cor-fettie Cake Batter (yum and it even has cute little  sprinkles in it) Cinnamon Swirl (just ok as a drink but great to cook with)

And of course no post is complete without a chicken picture.  They are all getting so big and Noodle is finally not looking like a crack head anymore, and finally has some feathers.

WiW…5ks vs. Half Marathons

I'm So I'm a little up this week (.8 pounds) I fully blame TOM he came to visit with a vengeance this week and I will admit to some chocolate and peanut butter shenanigans.

And the fact that I didn't get in my full hike. It's still majorly hot here so our hiking trails were closed due to high fire danger.

We didn't completely bale though and did a 4 mile run/walk on the paved trail. It was nice just not quite as challenging.

So this Sunday is the Long Beach Full and Half Marathon. I totally lagged and never signed up for it not to mention train.  I've kinda lost the running bug, not fully but just for halfs it just takes so much time to train and it seems my commute for work is getting longer and longer every year (what used to take me an hour is almost up to two on the way home) there are just so many people on the roads it's starting to wear.  Its all I can do to get in 2-3 miles or hit the gym I'm just to tired when I get home after a 12 hour day every day!

But my friend Carrie and Barb aren't the slackers that I have been and signed up for the 5k and the 1/2. I thought about the 5k but never signed up *insert Lazy Song* they have been talking and prepping and I have to admit I'm kinda jealous not so much the running part but the social part.  It's so much fun being a part of races there is such a community and team atmosphere.

Then yesterday Barb asked if I still wanted to run the 5k with Carrie (Barb is doing the half cause she's awesome like that)…Turns out one of her friends who signed up can't do it and they offered me the bib.  So looks like I get to run after all YAY!!

WiW…Spaghetti Squash Lasagna

Yay another pound lost (and that sucker better be lost for good!)  Actually it was slightly over a pound 1.2 to be exact.

Even though the weather gods have decided fall was NOT coming after all and turned up the thermostat (triple digest again this week) it was cool enough last weekend to get in a cooking pooloza.

I made lots of healthy stuff that I froze for dinner and lunches this week, like chicken, rice, and black bean bowls, healthy pumpkin muffins and one of my faves, spaghetti squash lasagna.

I actually remembered to take some pics so I could share the recipe with you all.
It's pretty easy first I stab a largish spaghetti squash all over then throw it in the microwave for 10-15 minutes (this one was huge so it took 18 minutes) while thats going on I browned up some ground turkey and then tossed in a jar of pasta sauce.
while that was simmering I mixed a block of low fat cream cheese, a container or low fat cottage cheese, crushed/minced garlic, and some parmesan.

after all the components were done, I just layered it like so
a little sauce at the bottom so it didn't stick, spaghetti squash

then cheese mixture, then sauce

top with a little extra parm throw it in the oven for 20-30 minutes (until all warm and bubbly)
and your done! it is so yummy, full of protein, and totally guiltless!

Even though it's getting warm again by the time I get home (thank you 2 hour commute said no one ever!) it's cooled down, so I did a few work outs in my backyard so I could let my chicken girls roam and keep an eye on them.

and of course Dobby (my little rat/dog) was not going to be left out!

WiW…Real Life

I'm So nothing changed this week and that's ok.

Yes I would have liked a loss, but at least it's not a gain.  177.4  So there is six more weeks until We leave for DR. I am so excited. I'd really like to lose a few more pounds and be i the 160's by then (even if it's 169.9 I'd be ok lol) so that is what I'm shooting for.

Yesterday was the first day of fall, but you wouldn't know it. It's still in the triple digits here..ugg really?? Pumpkin flavored stuff just doesn't  taste the same in sitting by the pool.

But even though it was hot as balls I wanted to get my workout done since I had a surprise waiting at home for me.  So I busted out a quick run.  Better than nothing right?

So that meant I was able to play with this when I got home!!  So exciting I am so not the "needs the newest phone" type person but my iPhone was the 4 and on it's last legs, and honestly it was only a few bucks more than the 5 so I went for it.  The best part was I just ordered it monday morning and was at my house my Tuesday afternoon (psh lines, and waiting nope)

Then of course real life called and I had to deal with this…

Weigh In Wednesday

Two weeks in a row, dare I say I might have found my groove again... Crap I probably just jinxed myself… But I did lose (not quite a pound this week but that's pretty normal for me after a week of a bigger loss (2+ pounds last week) .

This week what kept my streak going were just the basics.
Portion control.  I made my favorite chili Monday (I have been craving soups and chili for weeks) and instead of grabbing the huge bowl (that I could demolish and go back for more) I opted for a coffee mug perfect size about one cup and I felt satisfied instead of overly full.

I also got in a really good work out at the gym I tried a new made-up HIIT treadmill workout and it made the time go by pretty fast and I never got bored. I ran at a 5mph pace 1.5% incline for 2 songs then walked at a 3mph 5% incline for one song then a 3.5mph at a 18% incline for 2 more songs and did that 4 times.  I was drenched in sweat by the time I was done and had burned 500 calories!
photo bombed my the kiddo

and doing the thing that is the reason for my healthy lifestyle change
playing with my kidddo.  We took the bike out for a three mile ride to the park and back.  DQ did a great job keeping up on her new big girl bike and she even got me on the swings!
