Weigh in Wednesday... Busting at the Seams

It's Wednesday you know what that means

Weigh In Wednesday

So this week I was down to 173.8  almost a pound.. Not quite but close enough. I am discovering it is harder to lose the last 30 than it was to lose the first 50 (understandable but still try to accept it ) and the kicker is not being able to workout at the intensity that I'm used to since surgery. I was going to the gym 5-6 times a week running and lifting heavy, and now I am only able to walking for the time being.
But I have been really on point with eating this week.  I have stayed at or just below my calories 1500 and have been watching my carb intake in the evenings. It's really proving  that I can lose the weight (though slow) pretty much just through the way I eat.
healthy, chicken, burrito
Saturdays lunch salsa chicken burrito & fruit I'll post the recipe next week it's so easy!

Now remember I told ya all about how a little part of my incision was open (you can read about my surgery here),  well when I went back to the doctors on Monday a whole lotta of it was open ..
OMG I am busting at the seam literally!!
I almost took a pic but then I realized that would be taking TMI to a while new level and possibly illegal in a few states haha.  The incision is right at my bikini line same place as my 2 c sections... (I think my skin is just saying enough is enough!)  luckily no stitches but he did put on some steri strips and bandaged me up.

And as long as we're talking TMI  (my "fuzz" finally was at a place where it wasn't poky anymore from surgery but  then he had to go shave it again to put on the strips geez add insult to injury why don't ya and to top it off I think I may have scarred DQ for life as she was sitting right there while this 60 year old guy was shaving my who-ha!
Ah hell looks like I'm paying for her therapy.
Now that means I have to wait even longer to start doing any major exercise.. Ugh I am so over it. I'm not sure if I'm even suppose to be walking at this point but I went ahead and went for a quick 2 miler yesterday quick being relative it was a 16:32 pace but I just had to
I'm starting to go crazy.

Don't forget Fab Friday is coming up and it's
going to be a linky party...
So come join up and share your fabulous tip !!

No Workouts a Blog Fail ...So Cookies it is.

This is was what I was planning for this weekend!  I just got them (the Reebok Dumbells and the C9 Yoga Mat, thank you Target for the sale)  on Wednesday and was looking forward to trying them out with some YouTube work outs I found.

workout, yoga mat, fitness
I will get to use this soon!

But that didn't happen... remember I went to the doctors Thursday for my recheck (if your new hi :) I had a desmoid tumor removed from my abdomen about 8 weeks ago. You can read more about it here.)  Well turns out a little piece  of my incision was open, he didn't seemed worried and it hasn't bothered me at all so he just smeared some stuff on it (I assumed it was like glue or something).  But the next morning I woke up and more of the  incision was open!!  Holy crap I called them and they said as long as it's not oozing GROSS or hurting to just take it easy and come in Monday.

So instead I did a lot of cooking and a bit of cleaning, (so my house thanks me) and I did catch up on some of my shows like Under The Gunn, Shameless, and I'm kinda liking this season's cast of Dancing with the Stars, it's going to be a dual of the 90's girls. Not sure if I'm Team DJ Tanner, or Winnie Copper yet, I loved them both.

Back to cooking I was craving something sweet as always
and I had a shit ton of brown bananas again...

ripe, fruit, mashed, brown
why do I always have so many brown bananas

So I found a great recipe  for healthy cookies made with of course bananas, chocolate, oats, and PB, on my Pinterest board (you can follow me here.)
It's from Six Sisters and is a great little sweet tooth satisfier for only 47 calories per cookie, and it's pretty easy to make.  DQ wasn't as thrilled but I am still working to improve her pallet from junky overly sweet food to better less sugary foods I blame her Dad haha.
God give me strength and patients with that girl ... I NEED it.
healthy, peanut butter, banana, chocolate
Little bites of yumm
Oh another good thing that came out of the weekend and all the sitting, is I finally figured out how to host a linky party so this weeks Fab Friday will be a link up... Make sure to join up!
And finally I am STILL workin' on putting all my missing pictures back on old posts.  Every single picture was deleted (that was over 600ish in the last 2 years) UGH... Google Plus is NOT my friend. #blogfail

How was your weekend?  Eat any yummy healthyish treats?

Too Much Free Time

  • I have had entirely too much free time on my hands, and do you think I would blog with all that free time... no... cause I am a bad, bad, blogger but really it's because it's been very boring around here and there has not been much to write about that is unless you would like a full recap of the last 2 seasons on Shameless.
  • Besides watching marathons of Shameless I've been spending a lot of time on YouTube.  There is a whole other world out there and some of it is kinda scary... but then there is some pretty fun stuff to like make-up tons and tons of make-up tutorials.  So of course what happened I got hooked lol.  I have always loved make-up and stuff but I never felt I did the best job applying it.  So with all this free time I started watching and practicing.

  • Here is a green eye look I did not bad really and I even got a compliment at Target about it :) It's actually been pretty fun and I'm getting the hang of it, making it look good.  I also found this super awesome woman Marlena.  She is the founder and CEO of Makeup Geek  a cosmetic education website and upstart makeup brand, but she has also lost a ton of weight and talks about both things on her blog Simply Marlena and on her YouTube channel  (check it out here)  She seems so down the earth and real and I loved watching her videos, also she has super cute style, that I can totally pull off!!

  • I even went I painted ma nails.  I don't do it very often cause it always seems to chip but I researched and think I found a good combo of base and top coat that so far has seemed to keep it nice for almost a whole week...I'll take it. I'm not into the "fake" nails  one. I'm allergic to the acrylic kind  and two. I like the gel ones but I can't see spending the money  to keep it up.  So we'll see how the at home manis will work for me.

  • I got in the see the Dr today to finally get my staples out, the drain was removed last wed but the staples needed to stay in a little longer.  But finally it's all done, and I am able to go back to work with the limits of light duty...no lifting over 15 pounds and NO exercise at least for 4 more weeks.  He wants to make sure the abdominal mesh is healed and good since it's much bigger that planed.  But I can walk and lift small weights (as long as it's not over 15 he says) but nothing high impact or heavy.  I'm a little bummed but I will listen I di not want to have to go back and have it fixed and start all over.  So I see a lot of walking in my future .
  • I'm actually pretty excited to go back to work tomorrow I have missed my girls, and my kiddos. This has just proven to me even more that I could never stay home.  I just need to be out and about.  Don't get me wrong if you are a stay at home mommy/wife more power to you.  It's hard freaking work and kinda lonely as far as my experience went, I think that's why I couldn't do it, and maybe the fact that I really couldn't do much in the way of cleaning and organizing.  That probably would have made the time go faster and I felt I got things done.

Zombies, Sister Wives, and Fairytales

  • Howdy all... sorry I've been MIA but remember when I said I was watching T.V like it was my job,  yeah well lets say I turned into a workaholic.  I blew through seasons worth of Once Upon a Time (great show for this Disney girl), Top Chef (yumm), Walking Dead (oohh zombies), and Sister Wives (?I could use a few of those right now?).   This has pretty much been it the last week.

  • I will admit I have got on the scale it was not what I wanted to see 178.9 but I hoping like really really hoping it has some thing to do with lots of fluid retention (I look like I have a beer belly) and this drain thing.. ugg. 3 more days till this sucker is pulled oh crap now I scared my self.  I am eating fairly good I would love to say I was eating perfectly but I would be lying.  A lot of it has to do with boredom.  Though zombies and multiple wives are entertaining I can only take so much at a time, and I have been stuck at home for the most part so it's hard not to want to munch.  A good thing though is I actually have very little "junk"  but I have found a few strays (choc chip cookies hidden in the back of the freezer).
  • I did get out for a walk a finally.  It was very slow going and the Hubs was totally against it but I told him if he didn't let me he would regret it later (I can be a big ol' pain in the ass) and I NEEDED this... like Jack needed a life preserver (10 points to anyone you gets that).  I walked the big block of my house, almost a mile then since I was so close walked up and down the street to make it a full mile.  It took just over 30 minutes I told you it was slow as shit....but it felt AWESOME!!  This is pretty much the only thing I can do right now and even then I was feeling it the next day so I'm trying to take it easy and only do every other day or not quite as long.

  • Besides being an awesome Bruno Mars concert with some football thrown in (if you can call it that) Sunday was the Surf City Half Marathon.  This was the first half I ever ran ...one year ago.  As I was sitting there Saturday night I was remembering that one year ago I was laying out my running gear, I was getting super nervous and flat out scared, but that day turned out fan-flipping-tastic.  I proved to myself that if I work hard I can accomplish anything.  So this year was bitter sweet.  My girls Barbie & CareBear (plus a ton of other friends) I know were running this year and I was stuck home *tears* and the kicker I couldn't even go and be there to cheer them on.  As I was sitting there try to passive aggressively try to talk the hubs into taking me in the morning an Idea came to me.....TADA

  • I made a bunch of these signs and took pictures.  Then I woke up and text my girls, who were running late pfftt... not if I was there (and I told them that...and they agreed lol) but I was able to live track them and since I knew the course I text them the pictures at certain mile markers and durning the tough parts (ie the little hills).  They loved it and I felt like I was apart of it though I wasn't there.

Made It

  • Hi all just wanted to let you know I made it through surgery with flying colors or at least that's what it felt like..man they give good drugs haha...but really it went well. I don't remember much but the hubs and mom said that it took much longer than expected (over 2 hours) because the tumor was much larger than they thought.  Turns out it was the size of a small tennis ball   HOLY CRAP!!! Well I'm just glad it's out and now I have this lovely drain thing sticking out of my stomach ick, I'm hoping some of my fat will magically liquefy and ooze on out... Sorry gross I know but I'm sitting here going crazy from boredom and it's only been a two days.

Just before surgery, sorry it's blurry hubs is not the best picture taker

  • Now I'm watching T.V like it's my job and honestly it sucks balls!  I hate not being able to DO something.  I actually feel pretty good and am not in that much pain.  I can't lift anything so I don't but I find my self just walking up and down my hallway just to move around.  And it actually feels better when I stand than when I'm sitting but I promise I'm taking it easy.

  • To and insult to injury poor DQ who is staying with Grammie C for the week came down with a fever and a major cough...poor baby all I want to do is cuddle her but instead now it means I won't even get to see her on Friday for the switch off to Grammie J's.  There is NOWAY I can get sick now especially a cough.  Yesterday I chocked on a bit of water and I thought my insides where going to come flying out it hurt soo bad.

  • A bit of good I got these beautiful flowers delivered while I was typing this.  They are from my class, so sweet I miss them a ton already.  And the hubs has been my beck and call boy the last few days which I'm not gonna lie is kinda nice... not that I'm taking advantage of it or anything... ok I won't make him paint my toes lol, but he has brought me some pretty good movies to watch.

Meal Planning to the Extreme

  • One week from today I will be having surgery.... OMG ONE week there is way to much to do.  That is why it's been almost a week since I've posted.  I'm hoping that with me pretty much stuck on the couch or in bed I will be better at posting things, but then I will have nothing to post about being stuck on said couch or bed ugh I can't win.  But anyway, I do go in this afternoon to do all the pre-admission stuff for the hospital.  Shit starting to get real!

  • Over the weekend I was in full chef mode just call me Julia Child maybe with a little less wine...who am I kidding bring on the wine.  I am trying to be prepared for my surgery and though the hubby can cook (and well) he uses butter like it's the main ingredient and with no form of exercise in my near future I can't be eaten' like that.  So I made 3 weeks worth of dinners (for the both of us, I don't have to worry about DQ Grammie and CareBear are trading off keeping her ...have I mentioned I have the best friends ever!!)  that can either be thrown in the oven or crock pot and a shit ton of lunches (for myself) that just need to be nuked or thrown together.  Pretty much tons of chicken and ground turkey meals also a few spaghetti squash (regular pasta for the hubs) meals with different healthy pasta sauces (they freeze and reheat  really well), and some egg dishes.

  • Sunday Was TaTa's 20th holy crap shoot me now I should NOT have a TWENTY year old birthday.  We celebrated on friday by going out to dinner with the fam to the local mexican place.  I was very good and got my fajita burrito but cut it in half as soon as I got it and but one half away and only ate the other.  It really helps when I do that because it keeps me from nibbling mindlessly while chatting.

  • Yesterday we continued the celebration at Disneyland.  Even though DQ's pass expired in November,  us older girls don't expire until Feb. so I wanted to go one last time and mom and TaTa had the day off so I met them there for dinner and a few rides.  It's actually the first time since DQ was born that I have gone without her.  We had a great time and now time to retire the pass.  Maybe in a few years we will get them again but for now we are gonna try other things...(we'll see how long it lasts lol)

Oh and on a last note I was nominated for The Sunshine Blogger Award by Elizabeth over at The Singing Bird (she is the bee's knees go and check her out!)  I promise to get to it as soon as I can (probably when I'm all laid up so keep a look out.

Not The Muscle... Why not the Fat?

  • So about the surgery, it seriously sucks.  Turns out it was not a simple cyst as I had hoped but instead I have what is called a Desmoid tumor. Basically it's a cancer type tumor that does not metastasize to other parts of the body (it's localized) so it stays in the original spot.  It's slow growing and attaches to the muscles (in this case my abs).  It's pretty rare but luckily very few people die from it (well that's good news and I guess if I had to get "cancer" this is the one to get).  If you want you can read more about it here.

  • The plan is to have surgery on the 28th, I was hoping sooner but I think I may have pissed of the Nurse when I called back not once, but twice because I hadn't heard from them yet to schedule it... What I was told was he will be cutting out a large portion of my ab muscles (to make sure he gets all the "fingers"  (so it has a harder time growing back) then he will put in a mesh patch to bond the muscles together and hopefully it will hold and new muscles will form over it. (are you freaking kidding I'm finally working on those damn muscles and getting results.  Why can't it be the fat, I still have that and surely I wouldn't care if you cut that off!!). That's why I have to take so much time off from workouts, gotta give my tummy a chance to heal god knows I don't want that shit to rip, could you imagine ouch!!

  • The bummer besides having my insides be part of a bad game of Fruit Ninja, is that I won't be able to run the Surf City Half this year and extra bummer Barb and CB are... uggg life is being quite the bitch right now.  I did think about pushing the surgery back (it's only a week) but the hubs did not like that idea at all. Really it needs to be done and I can't afford or justify the $125 registration when it's already gonna be tight as all heck if I have to be on disability for any length of time (damn car payment).  So that is the long and short of it.  Until then I'm going to work my ass (and my abs) off while I can, and hopefully being in pretty good shape I will be able to bounce back a little faster.

Oh wait it is....  Well Damn!

*Okay I know I'm making light of a lot of this but it's just my way of coping.  I know that not everyone feels the same or thinks it's funny, but this is how I'm getting though it in my life.

12.10.2013

It's been a hell of a month and it's not over yet....

I know it's been about a month since my last post, sorry about that. But this month has been pretty much a shit storm. If you've been reading for a bit you might remember (back in July) when I talked about my lady lump.  No not those lumps... the lump I have near my left ovary and a slight pain if your into TMI you can read about it here... Oh and just so you now there's more of it to come.

Any way I finally made an appointment with my actual Dr.  And she referred me to have an ultrasound.  Well went there and did that.  I swear they used very wand they had on me (see told you lots of TMI). So that turned into having to have a CT scan definitely less intrusive than the ultrasound  but a tad more scary and required me to during this nasty shizz that looked like chalk and tasted like lemon-lime milk...yup as gross as it sounds and to top it off needles too!

So after a bit of telephone tag I finally got the results... Good news it's not an ovarian cyst, the bad news it's actually a small tumor in my abdominal wall.  So not what I was expecting to hear.  Now they have referred me to a surgeon to have it removed, then they will send it out for a biopsy to determined if it is just a mass or cancer.

Needless to say I've gone through every emotion possible (which left me pretty drained and in no mood to blog, sorry). Right now I'm mostly positive seeing as I've had this pain for quite a while and it really hasn't got much worse and other than the random pain I've been pretty healthy and nothing else seems to be wrong.  Also I'm still keeping up with my exercising (running and lifting) and at least now I know why certain moves aka ab work hurt lol.  And eating has been ok.  I haven't really lost any weight, but on that note I haven't really gained either. I'm hovering around 170-173.

So with all that being said this is why I've been MIA.  I can't promise that I'll have tons of posts but I WILL try to post more often and keep ya posted haha... See what I did there!
