Stormaggedon

Hey all, sorry about missing Friday. It was our annual Christmas program at work so it was a whirl wind of a day and not to mention it was apparently "stormaggedon" too.  We here in So Cal are such babies that the littlest bit of rain puts everyone in a  panic.

Even with the rain it turned out to be a great weekend. The hubs and I took DQ to a Winter Wonderland holiday thing at a local park along with some friends.  It was lots of fun they had all different types of activities.

This is how we do sledding and snow in Southern California lol,

can you tell we were totally unprepared.  Poor DQ id in Vans and we totally forgot the gloves.

But she did get to see Santa so that made the freezing hands and wet feet worth it.

After that I went out with my girls.  Our work party did not happen this year, kinda sad but no one wanted to host it so it just sorta fizzled out.  we made the best of it and got the crew together for dinner and dancing in downtown Temecula.

We are such dorks but we do have fun!

Finally after getting home at 1 in the morning my ass had to be up at 6 to get ready for my last holiday shoot of the year.

It was actually two families that were related I was worried it was going to take forever but it went really smoothly and we were done in just over an hour.  Now I'm just putting some finishing touches on them and will have them out later this week.

Survivor Mud Run Recap

This weekend was the Survivor Mud Run.  Have to admit I was a little nervous leading up to it, I've done a plenty of 5ks, and a handful of halfs, but never a mud run or a run with obstacles.

We all spent the night at Barb's on Friday since the race was only 10 mins from her house.  I was so happy it has finally cooled down a bit since our wave time was at 10:15.  We got there in platy of time to snap a few pictures.

we really didn't  really thinking ahead and we never saw a bag check so I wrapped my car key in a ziplock and then duct tape (cause every problem can be solved with that shiz)

and tucked it in the back of Carrie's pants hoping for the best.

Lucily we found this awesome lady half way through the course that took our picture and then text it to us.  Otherwise we wouldn't have had one.  I actually one saw one photographer the whole race, and our bib number was covered with mud so I don't know how you would even find us lol.

After the run we headed back to the car to clean up and take a few more pictures.

When we got back to Barb's we hosed ourself off in her front yard before moving on to the shower. I had mud in places i didn't know could get mud lol..

Then we watched Blacklist (hello!! love this show) and compared battle wounds.

We had such a great time.  I will totally be doing another mud run even though I swear I'm still picking dirt out of my ears haha (where were you thinking..)

Oh Hey Friday

Hey Friday there you are…thank god that means this crazy week is almost over!
Not that it hasn't been fun, but seriously the older I get the more tiring "fun" is lol.

This will be short a sweet since the crazy is not over yet, Wednesday we went to the Katy Perry concert. We all got off at 3:00pm and went over to our friends Jen & Brad (who scored some tickets and came with us).  Seriously this girl is the hostess with the mostest… lol
But watch out she has a mean Mai Tai recipes (which we loves maybe a little to much)

Then because Brad is so awesome he got his driver (yea talk about fancy) to drive us to the concert

We went to Cheesecake Factory for apps (and I was a good girl and only had a few of this and that).
but as you can see i this picture maybe one to many Mai Tais as I'm not sure what the heck I was looking at!

We had pretty decent "cheap seats" and turns out Jen & Brad sat right behind us!

I am still trying to recoup, since my Back -to- School night was last night (I have not been home in 2 days) and I will finally get to go home today but only for 2 hours before I have to pack up and head out to Barbs for the Survivor Mud Run tomorrow morning…praying I survive.

Petting Zoos and Pools

Look at DQ she is in heaven!!

I sent this picture to the hubs and he asked "What are those?" my response "Our new pets!" he about had a heart attack seeing as I talked him into chickens a few short weeks ago lol.  He was happy to hear that they were Guinea pigs and that none were coming home with us. (We were at a birthday party at Zoomars a petting zoo in San Juan Capistrano).

After the party we headed home to make these sinful things otherwise know as "Slutty Brownies" that evil bitch!

to take to an end of summer work pool party… and yes they love and hate me for them!

The pool party was in Canyon Lakes so I pretty much drove 200 miles in one day for parties.
but so worth it.  Sun, water and friends.

again to many weekend snacks and those damn brownies, cause of course I had to do quality control first, then I may have had one two more that night ugh.

To try and redeem myself, I got my ass out of bed at the crack of dawn Sunday to hike the Claremont Loop with TaTa.  It was so stinking hot and muggy even at 6 in the morning, but we got it done.

and that was all before 9 am!!
The rest of the day was spent in the pool trying to stay cool and not snack.

It's Hot, Sticky, Sweet....

So what do you think?... I changed things up a bit on here.  I blame the Diet Dr. Pepper I drank at 4pm on Friday night...I should know better, but any way.

It was another great weekend, wow I am on a roll.  The beginning of this summer I promised myself that this year I was going to use our pool more and so far so good!

Saturday we had the "un-birthday" party for DQ lol.  A few close friends came over for pizza and swimming it was super laid back and though we did do pizza,  I made sure to have lots of  veggies, fruit and salad. I will admit to a slice and a bit of ice cream cake but I was balanced and still enjoyed with going over bored.

nothing like eating cake in the pool

The other great thing about summer time swimming is since you are outside you can have tons of messy drippy watermelon then just jump in the pool (cause I'm a cool mom and don't pool days count as baths in the summer??.)  Honestly I absolutely love watermelon it's the perfect healthy summer treat, but I used to never buy it because I HATED cutting it and I'm too cheap to buy the pre-cut.  Talk about sticky, juicy mess twss I know sorry couldn't help it.  That is until I learned this little trick.

Thank you Pinterest!

How To Cut a Watermelon with Less Mess

 1. Get a BIG ass knife (I like to use my serrated bread knife)

2. Hack off the top and bottom of the watermelon.

3. Carefully cut the rind off, so you kinda have a naked looking  watermelon.
notice there is hardly any juice...see it works.

4.Now just slice and dice how you like (you can pretend your Dexter)

now there will be some juice at this point but I found if you do it on a cookie sheet it pretty much stays contained  (I was just to lazy to do it yesterday so by the sink worked just as well)
The great thing I still have a ton of watermelon left over for this weeks snacks!

Bread, Cheese, and Vodka oh my....

I'm not gonna lie, this weekend filled with less than stellar choices...

Drink wise, food wise... pretty much all the way around.
Actually it really wasn't all weekend, just Saturday but when I do it, I do it big so I packed all I could into that one day.

I started off Saturday with a 7 mile run, I wasn't planning on doing that much but when Bruno Mars comes on you just have to go with it.  I swear people probably thought I was crazy running and dancing I may have even started singing at some point. Good times, but on the fly I changed it up a bit and did an out and back route but dummy me didn't bring any water or shot blocks and I normally don't eat to much before I go  so by mile 5 I was getting sluggish.  Lesson learned be prepared or at least know where a water fountain is :)

After my run I caught up on Grey's and had coffee before heading out for girls day.

That's when things got bad... it all started at Yard House with this

and got progressively worse.  I am so not a big drinker but every once in awhile...
after shopping we headed back home for more drinks and I'm pretty sure I ate a loaf of bread and a block of cheese,we also may have killed a bottle of blueberry vodka....no lie.
Then we hit up the Casino and there may have been some nachos involved and more vodka.

Not the best choices "diet" wise.  But the great thing is I woke up with only a little regret and maybe a minor hang over damn cheese  and was right back on the wagon.  I'm a little bummed because now I probably won't hit my goal (169) for Vegas but I'm ok with that.  It was only one day and I didn't let it turn into more than that. The old me would have said eff it I'm going to Vegas might as well make this whole week a free for all.  So I consider it a win, and a damn good time :)

How were your weekend choices?

Still Recovering

Talk about a weekend I know it already almost Wednesday but being gone for just one night and things pile up ...mainly laundry...ugh!

We'll Friday was a blast!  This old girl was actually able to hang with the youngins'.  CareBear and I got to San Deigo about 4ish and checked into the hotel.  Wow was it old (100 years to be exact) But it was very cool the elevators even had the old grate you had to pull open and close and you could see as you passed the other floors.  We called to find out the ETA of Barbie and Shell turns out they hadn't even left yet! So we decided to hit up Yard house and get a a head start at Happy Hour.

Yup that happened

And this was just the beginning! We split some apps and had a few (read 2 more Martinis) and got the call that the girls were here.  We walked back to the hotel and got ready to go.

Gtting ready of consisted of....more drinks and She'll doing all our makeup topped off by taking (what we thought at the time) great selfies LOL!

As you can see the drinks we strong and flowing... We headed out about 10 and had a blast club hopping and literally dancing all night.  I survived with my monster heels and only wore my flip flops when we were walking from place to place... Thank Gand for big purses.

I had to wake up early and head out to get DQ but I wasn't feeling to bad  just really tired seeing as we didn't get back to our rooms until 3am.  It was fun and I totally kept up with my under 30's.

Can't wait for the next time!!!

Thursday Weigh-In

Lol doesn't have as nice of a ring to it as Wednesday Weigh In but hey gotta do what ya gotta do.

This week I'm so happy to say I
actually  down again, wow two weeks in a row this may be a record for me seeing as I've been bouncing up and down for over 3 months.  So today was 167.8 whoop whoop!!! Down 0.8 not quite a pound but far enough away from 170 to make me smile and think I may have finally broken through that damn plateau!

So tomorrow I'm going with a few girlfriends to San Diego's gas lamp district for some bar and dare I say club hopping... Yikes I haven't done that in years and I'm hoping I can hang with the youngins' in my life I have two sets of friends -  the under 30s and the over 50s- with the exception of 2, lol so it's either super mellow or loud and crazy!! So we'll see if I survive the night.

I had to go shopping for a worthy outfit since most of my clothes don't fit (they are all falling off) so it was interesting and dare I say fun. I love to shop but it's always been hard finding cute styles when I was bigger.  It was so cool grabbing things to try on and realizing that I needed to go smaller, my brain still thinks I'm a size 16/18 sometimes and I actually bought a few things in the Juniors section WOW! I know a 38 year old woman shopping in the Jrs department, but don't worry it was tasteful and not overly trendy...(ok maybe just a little), but hey it's a club...dis gurl gotta fits in riiigghhtt!!   Oh and I got a killer pair of heels not sure how long I'll last in those 5 inch beauties so I'm gonna stash a pair of flip flops in my purse :)

This is what I'm used to...one of my "exceptions" and my over 50  PJs, wine and TV

Deliveries

This weekend was like no other... I'm actually still recovering!   But it was one of the best weekends of my LIFE!

My bestie Kyss finally had her BABY...  Actually she was about a week early but thank goodness she was, her little princess weighed in at 9lbs 7oz  and 21 inches long WOW.

The reason it was so awesome for me, besides my  best friend having her first baby, was I got to be apart of it all.  Early on in the pregnancy Kyss and her hubby T knew they wanted the birth to be private and not a lot of hupla (she has a bit of anxiety so the calmer the better for her) but she did want thanks to pinterest to capture the most special time of her life, and lucky for her, her bestie (me) is a photographer.  So they asked me to be apart of the birth.  Now don't go thinking eeeww  who would want and do vajay jay shots!  They were so not like that.  They just wanted some pics of the little moments the things you really don't think about or remember when all is said and done.  They are very tasteful and NO vag shots at all!

So I've been on baby watch for the last two weeks so its been kinda nerve wracking making sure to always have my phone and a plan to get out to Palm Springs(about an hour away)  quick.  Also I needed to make sure to have someone at the ready to watch DQ too.  So when she called work on Friday to say it was go time it worked out perfectly.  DQ was at Grammies for school and it was Friday perfect.  I headed out to Palm Springs about 11:30am and everyone was in good spirits when I got there.  Things were mild until about 9pm that's when all the hard labor and pushing began.  Going into it my plan was to lay low and just take pics, but that didn't quite happen... I got some great pics but I also helped first hand! I was holding legs and hands saying things like breath and push harder, I even got  pain induced yelled at by the mommy to be lol.

It was amazing to say the least.  I had both my girls C Section so I missed out on all the pushing stuff (though not the labor part, with TaTa I was in labor 19 hours before the Dr decided she wasn't coming out so emergency C it was) Then with DQ we just decided to schedule her C.   So it was amazing (can't say that enough) to see it all happen literally

CJ was born at 11:19pm on Friday the 13th... So cool and it's pretty awesome because DQ's birthday is on a 13 to so I've always thought a Friday the 13th birthday is pretty awesome!   Everything went well and mama and baby are doing great and daddy was so GREAT!

It was a day...weekend I will never forget, and am so blessed that they even thought to ask me to be apart of such an incredible part of their lives.   Here are a few of the images I captured
