Vacation Recap Warning (tons a pictures)

So I have finally gone through my vacation photos and there were just so many (as you'll see).  It was a great time and we had a blast.  Not gonna lie the resort Be Live Canoa was just ok.  Don't get me wrong it was beautiful, but the service was just so-so.  But really I'm not going to complain because

The hardest decision was whether to go here.

or here

We also did some awesome excursions, like a catamaran.

snorkeling

we swam with sharks (a tad scary)

and rays

a sunset boat ride.

We also found time to hit the gym and get in a few good workouts (even though there was no air conditioning and we were sweating balls)

and some fun workouts like kayaking.

to counter act all the liquid calories

so...

many…

liquid calories...

So that's it in a nut shell.

Have you taken or are you getting ready for any vacations?

Back to Reality

Reality has come crashing down hard today. So this  gonna be some what short a sweet or quick and dirty depending on how you like it ;) maybe both?

After waking up to this every morning

and doing this pretty much everyday...

This plane ride was hard. We are smiling cause we got seats with extra leg room for the last flight home! Score...See sometimes it pays to not here your name called at the gate.

The hubs is sitting across the aisle from me don't worry I dragged his ass home with me, if I had to leave so did he.

Actually the whole day was exhausting, the van picked us up from the resort at 10am eastern time and I finally crawled into my bed at 2am Pacific time...that's like 20 hours of travel/waiting around in airports time. (I am NOT a mathematician so it may be give or take a few hours lol)

Then cause I'm still off a bit time wise, my happy butt was up at 5am so I started to unpack, and start the vacation laundry.  I swear everything in my suit case was  slightly damp.  Nothing ever seemed to dry out there with all the humidity.

So 3 loads later it was off to the grocery store.  We seriously had nothing in the house, except coffee THANK YOU JESUS!  and yes I made sure of it before we left. Failing to plan is planning to fail, am I right?

Look at all the loveliness.  It is time to get back on track so it was all the healthy stuff ok yes there are chips in there too, a request from DQ but come on I needed the extra mom points I did just go on vacation without her..lol

And then I had to pack again because we are having our teacher in service tomorrow night into Tuesday  and they booked us a room at the hotel.  It's right on the beach so really I guess my vacay isn't quite over.

I NEED Veggies!!

Holla Amigos, I'm back!!
Whew that was one busy but fun week, I do not know how people who travel a lot do it.  I am exhausted!!  It truly was a trip and not a "vacation".  I saw lots of family that I haven't seen in almost twenty years (all who do not speak a lick of English) so needless to say my Spanish got very good there towards the end. So much so that I swear I started to dream in Spanish lol.
As well as having lots of family time we also did A LOT of sight seeing. My dad is very big on exploring and not staying in one place for to long. and making sure we see every freaking stature in the state and a mummy museum to boot, true story!

So while I was gone I learned a few things.

1. There are a few places in this world where it is just not safe to run.  My Dad's hometown was a great place and everyone was super friendly as long as they were NOT in a car! I swear they drive like maniacs seriously they play chicken for sport. And the sidewalks were pretty non-existent. But I did climb a butt load of stairs sight seeing!
Just one of the many flight of stairs we climbed. This is the Guanajuato University

2. There are no veggies in Central Mexico!  Ok that's not really true, but it felt that way. There seriously was not a salad in 99% of the places we went, and no veggies with your meal.  I'm not really sure why and my dad couldn't say either it's just the way it is I guess.
but the tacos were Ah-Mazing!

3.  Going "off the grid" was way harder that I thought is was going to be. I guess I never really though about how much I/we are on our phones, tablets, just technology in general.  By the 3rd day I was ready to sell DQ begging for some wi-fi.

So that pretty much was my trip in a nutshell I don't want to bore you with a play by play, but I'm sure I will be peppering my next few posts with a story here and there of our trip.  And I'll finish this post with a few pics.

Last but not least I want to say a BIG THANK YOU to my bestie Carrie for throwing in a guest post last Wednesday for you all.  Not going to lie I am a bit jelly of all the fun those girls had! Looks like we might need to plan another so I can go :)

We had to sit through two Catholic masses in one day! Holy Crap I forgot how long those babies are..

Fridays Five... Quicke

Just wanted to drop in for a quick Fridays five, travel edition before I cross the border. We are actually flying out of Tijuana (yup I'm a bad ass like that... just kidding it saved about $300 a ticket and a 13 hour layover and that was how my aunt was doing it).

One
Thank god for rolling suitcases!! Traveling with a little and trying to keep track of her, hauling 2 suitcases, two carry ons and a purse. It's brutal!

Two
Expiedia, my aunt didn't think it was necessary to book a hotel in advance it was Thursday after all (we stayed in a hotel in San Diego last night so we weren't late for our flight).  Yup not so much after two tries finally found a motel 6 that had a room.

Three
Motel 6 has bumped up their stock a bit!
Pretty comfy, and clean, I won't complain!

Four
Not a travel thing really but I bought this just before I left because my pencil was almost out... I can't wait to try it

Five
Happy Friday and happy vacation.  Hope you all have a great weekend, and a great week.  I talked to Carrie and she maybe stopping by :). Make sure to show her some bloggy love!!

WiW...Pack It Up, Pack It In

Holy crap I only have one more day to finish packing before I leave on my trip.

I've been trying to squeeze it in here and there but it's been pretty hectic around here in general and it's also the first week of some new kiddos in my class.  We basically stagger enrollment for the new year into 3 parts July, Aug., and Sept. so they don't all start at once. But that also means I need to get my last years kids ready to move up too.  I'm talking assessments (kinda like a report card) and portfolios (a toned down scrapbook) that would be easier to do if I actually used glue and not sunscreen.

I was about 80% done when I realized that this was not a glue stick...no wonder the pictures weren't sticking!!  So I have been exhausted and the last thing I want to do is pack.
Then the Hubs asked how much it was going to  be to call or text him so I looked into international roaming charges...umm ya that shit is expensive.  So I have decided to be off the grid for the week. No email, no Facebook, instagram, or twitter.  I'm actually ok with it.  It will be interesting to see how much I do or do not miss it.

The bummer is though that also means no blogging.  I was hoping to have a post or two done and set it to publish while I was gone, but honestly I don't think that is going to happen, (but I am going to try and talk my bestie Carrie into doing a guest post for me  but we'll see.)
So I'm sorry in advance if not much happens, don't miss me too much lol.
That just means I'll have a ton of stuff to tell you when I get back!
So lastly it is Wednesday so here it is...

174 lost one pound, I'll take it especially after the holiday, and not much activity since those weekend runs unless I can count laundry and packing, it really should be considered an olympic sport.

WIW.....This Should Be Illegal

Hey guys It's WiW and guess what....
I have no numbers for you today.  I kept the promise to myself to not get on the scale. To be honest I'm a little nervous but I'm felling really good, and I do think I'm making some progress.

Though I 'm on vacation I have been busting my booty and getting in the workouts.  It also totally helps that these girls are here and we keep each other in line.  All for one and one for all!! at least until the Carne Asada comes out then it's every girl for herself I kid.

I have a totally yummy new thing I tried with my new obsession, Quest Nutrition Bars.
I was running low on my favorite flavors so I picked up some more and I also got a few loose ones to try and see which ones I like, so I don't make the mistake I made with the Cinnamon Roll flavor.
Everyone said they were really good so I bought a whole box (not cheap) and when I got them home they were just al'right.  So now I have a whole box of these things I need to eat so after some browsing on instagram I saw that a lot of people "bake" them. So this is what I came up with

I warmed it up in the microwave for 10-15 seconds then put it in a muffin tin and baked it at 300 for 8 minutes (random I know) once it cooled I popped it out and filled it with vanilla Greek yogurt mixed with chia seeds.  It turned out really good almost like a cinnamon "crust".  Yum these bars are really too damn good they should be illegal!

Happy Hump Day!

Trying to fit it In...

Oh what a wonderful 2 weeks it has been  (16 days to be exact),  but this was my last week of vacation... so of course we tried to squeeze in everything we could.

  • On Monday I asked DQ if she wanted to take Dobby to the park that TaTa and I saw on our hike and that was a great big YES!  It was a short walk but on a trail and it did have a few lot of stairs.  I was a bit worried how the tiniest dog ever was gonna do but that little pup may be small but he sure is mighty and handled it no problem.  We spent a few hours at the park, it was so beautiful and even had a little stream next to it that was perfect for DQ to explore.

  • New Years  Eve day we decided to go to the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach.  I had gotten free passes when I ran the Long Beach Half and they expired that day.  It was fun, the aquarium is actually pretty small, so it was perfect for a quick visit.  It took us about 4 hours to see everything, and there was a lot of thing you could touch/pet, like sharks, rays, jellies (I wasn't so sure about that one) and of course sea stars, anomies, and urchins. We also got to feed the lorikeets, dude those things dive bomb you even if you don't have food for them, but they are so pretty I guess I can forgive them and the fact that I didn't get pooped on like the girl next to me lol.   Afterwards we walked over to Yard House for lunch.

  • The rest of the evening was low key CareBear came over and we just hung out and caught up, she has been out of town for the last week. Of course we had a few cocktails (those in the bag ones you throw in the freezer... verdict... not bad) played candy crush cause we are cool like that, rang in the new year and were in bed by 12:05pm  hey we were just happy to make it to midnight #oldfarts.  NYD we got up lazed around a bit before deciding to go for a run, gotta start the New Year off right...right??  We planned just a quick out and back but as we ran I realized that this was the first run CB has done in my hood so we went the long way and showed her "my hills" haha non existent to say the least.

  • Finally our last stop for the week was Knott's Berry Farm.  I actually got season passes for the year, Disney was getting out of control expensive so I didn't renew thisr.  Kinda sad but for the price of ONE Disney pass I was able to get 4 Knott's passes (with parking and no blackout days...and the Disney pass wasn't even the top one it was second cheapest yikes).  It was just DQ and I but we got there early and were able to hit a lot of the Camp Snoopy rides before it got busy.  We walked around a bit and explored and decided one more ride before lunch, but along the way stopped for an ICEE...ya bad idea   *if  your squimish stop reading now* don't say I didn't warn you.... as we were waiting in line for the coach ride DQ is sucking down her ICEE a few minutes later she says she's dizzy and I tell her it was because she didn't eat her breakfast (that girl is the worst eater  I swear) and we'll go get lunch after the ride.  Well next thing I know she is leaning on me and I put my arm around her just in time for her to puke red ICEE all over my arm!!! Holy Crap GROSS and EMBARRESING.  So after a few murmurs of excuse me, be careful, don't step there, we headed off to the bathroom to clean up.  Luckily it wasn't to bad and with a mental note of NO ICEE on an empty tummy ever! We were off.

  • Finally my doctors apt on Monday did not go as well as I hoped, and I will be def having surgery in the next two weeks (just gotta call tomorrow and schedule it).  He said the estimated the recovery time for work about 3-4 weeks...crap, and the recovery time for exercise 6-12 SHIT are you kidding!! I will fill you guys in more but this post has gone on long enough and I need to get to bed, first time I've set the alarm in 16 days **sigh**

Weigh-In On Thursday...Yet Again, and again, and again...

Another late weigh in folks...sorry.

I think I will be saying this a lot this month it's CRAY around here.

Between vacation last week,  today is DQ's Birthday the big 6!

Next week me and my girlies are going to see Pitbull and Ke$ha on Tue then DQ's actual party on Thurs night ( I know slightly weird to have it on a weeknight but we live far from school and there is this awesome party place that is a huge room full of bounce houses really close to school so we decided to do it there to save on driving out an extra day  and the fact that they have a great special of kids eat free on a Wed or Thurs night party  hey I'm cheap sue me..  Then the following week my stepdaughter Ash will be coming out from AZ to stay with us for the week (this is a bit nerve wracking seeing as this is the first time ever that this has ever happened and she is 11 yrs. old)  but we are very excited.  And it's also DQ's Kinder promotion so like I said CRAY!!

Well now that you all know my every waking step for the next month let's get to it!
I was on vacation last week and lost so was a bit worried that I wasn't going to lose as much if any especially since it was so hot (120 F) the last few days I didn't work out too much in the morning and just swam and did a lot of treading water (had to stay cool some how).

When I stepped on the scale yesterday I was sooooo happy another loss -2.2 pounds so I am now at 172.4  OMGEEE so close to the 160s I can not freaking believe it.  I really did work hard this vacation and watched what I ate made healthy choices and made my body move even when all I wanted to do was sit on my ass and drink beer!  Don't get me wrong I did have a few cocktails,  and  ate what everyone else ate (dinner mostly).  I just was mindful of my portion size and if I did have one to many chips I swam and extra lap.

eating healthy even on the road!!!  (Ya I'm pretty multi talented...eating, picture taking and driving all at the same time... I kid, I kid,  I took this before I even pulled out of the parking spot cuz I was starvin)
