A Little Late...But I'm Ready

Hello??   Anyone still there?....

Well if you are,  thank you :)  seems Christmas came in and everything else went out.  I had all these lofty goals of what I wanted to get done on the blog, around my house, at the gym.  Instead it was a lot of family time.  So really it was great!  I may not have done everything I wanted but I spent so much time with my family and friends and who can complain about that.

I'm a little late to the recap party but I'm gonna do it anyway.
Christmas was great, very low key I had the family over for Christmas eve dinner then it was just the Hubs DQ and myself on Christmas day.  We watched movies played with our new toys and enjoyed each others company.

Saturday after Christmas we drove to the California/Arizona border to pick up Ash so she could spend the week with us.  Always a long drive but so worth it we love having her she is such a sweetie and DQ just loves her.

We did a lot of fun things while she was here unfortunately the hubs had to work the first few days so my mom and I took the girls out and went ice staking in Old Town Temecula.

the next day we went to the trampoline park were we all jumped for two hours straight.  Even grandma.  Holy cow was I sore the next day, but still so much fun, and not to mention a great workout.

New Year was low key as well, we invited our friends over to just hang out, snack and play a little Cards Against Humanity (seriously the funniest and most inappropriate game ever) while the girls played Just Dance and watched movies.  None of us made it to midnight seeing as we are so old. We called it a happy new year at 10:00 and I was asleep by 11:00 such a party animal.

This weekend we wrapped up our break by taking Ash all the way back to AZ.  We left a day early so we could spend the weekend with our friends in Phoenix  (the husbands have been besties for like ever... seriously like high school forever)

They also have girls DQs age so they loved playing together and we sat around a caught up on life.  We used to go out a visit them almost monthly, but life gets busy so now we are only doing 3-4 times a year.
Caught in the act, even though they may deny it boys take selfies too!

And even though I didn't work out nearly enough over the break I did get in a run with Amy (she just ran her firsk 5K non stop!!) so proud and now she is thinking of running a half...and I'm thinking if she does I may go out there and do it with her.

and like I said I didn't work out or hit the gym as much as I wanted, but I wasn't a total couch potato. I went on a few hikes and runs, made it to the gym once and I also played with my awesome at home resistance band work out gear that the hubs got me.  I also found this cool fitbook at Target while doing some after Christmas shopping.

So now I am reved up and ready to go for the new year!!  Watch out.

She Left Me...

This weekend we shipped the little one off to grandma's just so we could have a quiet weekend (I tell you grandparents are the best!!)   So I started my Saturday off by dropping my car  at the dealers for service.  Since it's only a few miles from my daughter's we had decided that I would run to her house then she would drop me off at home so I could get some stuff done and then meet up later so I could pick up my car then we would go get a massage.

So after dropping off my car I ran to her place and stood outside and text her. She didn't answer right away so I ran around the block then I finally got a text back…that little shit forgot about me really.... She had stayed at her boyfriends WTH!!  I will give her points for offering to come get me (it was still pretty early) but I told her to forget (and to let her feel a little guilt lol) and called the hubs to come get me, it was a beautiful cool morning I told him I would just keep running until he found me. About 2 miles later we finally met up, so what was going to be a quick 2 miler turned into about 4.  Bonus points right.

He found me!

Then sunday I was debating about going hiking but decided to do it,  I love this sunday morning routine.  I get to catch up with my girl hit the framers market, and not feel guilty about having a baleg after the 5 mile hike :) and this week I met her new guy.
He was very nice and bonus was able to keep up lol.

another beautiful morning.

When I got home it was time to clean the coop and spend some time with my other girls.
They totally think they are lap chickens.

Is it Really Fall?

Wow this weekend it actually finally felt like fall was here.  So with the cooler weather I was ready to be outside and enjoy the cool crisp air yes in SoCal cool and crisp means about 67 degrees lol)

I work up bright and early and decided to let the girls (my chicken girls) explore the full backyard while I cleaned up the garden.  I'm a bit sad my pumpkins never really did anything except get aphids so I ripped them out, and in the process I found this guy.  DQ loved it and watched it for ever.
poor noodle look how haggard she is, can you tell she is at the bottom of the pecking order.

Then DQ had a birthday party to go to, complete with rock climbing wall and
a trampoline thingy <---(the technical term lol).  Then we finished up by babysitting.  I have to give myself some major props here because the party was catered with a full on BBQ spread and I made awesome choices.  I had a salad topped with the BBQ chicken and some beef brisket.  I passed on the mac n' cheese and baked beans (but yes I had one cupcake).
And while babysitting they always get us pizza (and it's good pizza) and I also totally passed on it this time around. Hubby was happy about that since they always make me take the leftovers home and hubby LOVES that pizza!

Sunday was another awesomely cool day so TaTa and i met up with Barb to hike our 5 mile loop.

It was a gorgeous morning.

and it was a great burn.

Afterward Barb left to go to a baseball game and TaTa and I went to the village to have bagels and coffee and, of course hit up the farmers market.

The rest of the day was spent meal prepping and cleaning the house which I actually love to do when I can open the windows and blast the music. I am much more an autumn cleaning person than a spring cleaning one.

Weekend Workouts

Yay it's Teacher Appreciation I'm so excited my school spoils us and always makes this week a fun one for us from, hour lunches to mini massages and healthy lunches!

The weekend was pretty relaxing, I did have an engagement  photo shoot and I babysat but other than that not much. Friday Dobby (our dog ) was going nuts by our spa when DQ went to find out why this is what we found.

They were so stinking cute and we thought about keeping them for a hot second but my allergies would go into def con 5 so we didn't and the Humane Society came and picked them up on Saturday morning so DQ did get to cuddle them for a bit.

Saturday I made sure to get my "on my own" weight work out in.  Holy crap it was awesome, I did an upper body workout and between circuits I ran around my block (about 1 minute)
Circuit 1   3x 15reps
Single Leg Overhead Press
Bicep Curls
Renegade Rows

Circuit 2    3x 15reps
Lat raises
Rear Delt Flys
Tricep Dip

Circuit 3    3x 20reps
Chest Press
Push-ups
Tricep Kick Backs

I also did some core work like Russian Twists, Planks, and bicycle crunches.
I was dripping sweat by the end and I had the best work out high!!

Sunday was a rest/walk day so I decided to do a hiking trail near me and I forgot how it literally goes straight up then down my ass is feeling it today so I really should say this was a lower body day, just check out the elevation gain almost 300-400 ft. per mile.

After I celebrated with the most perfect ice cream cone from McDonalds ever

It's almost to pretty to eat.

and since it's still pretty warm here DQ decided to take Dobby for a swim...and he actually liked it.

This Weeks Goals

1.) Follow my written Workout plan all week. (that's all "my own" weight days except one)
2.) Burn at least 500 kcals on my work out days.
3.) Stay within my 40/30/30 macros.

I'm linking up with the beautiful Katie at Healthy Diva Eats, and the girls from the awesome Motivation Monday Team cause we can always use a little extra  of that :)
